We also talked about the heart of all men being evil. The bible tells us that we are all sinners.

We all deserve punishment.
yes, but if we believe in Jesus Christ, repent of our sins, and trust in Christ for complete forgiveness, we are made into new creations.

Those are catastrophic events.
However, the catastrophe we going to read about in scripture today is much worse that has happened in the world since. its as if the whole world got hit with a tsunami all at the same time.
Let open our bibles too....
The Flood
Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. The Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. The Lord said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them.”
Why the Flood, What did the Lord see? The wickedness of man.
God saw the wickedness of man was great on the earth.
What does this verse say about mans wickedness? that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
We know that God does not like sin! and these people were continually evil and wicked. the bible tells us here what God thinks about sin.
What did the Lord think of the evil men on earth? The Lord was sorry that He made man.
yes, God was grieved.
to cause God to be sad, sorrowful, or distressed.
eph 4.30 “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”
1 Thes 5.19 “Do not quench the Spirit;”
Disobedience grieves God and leads to judgement.
God hates sin and because He is a Just and righteous God, He must punish sin.
What does the scripture say God was going to do because of the evil sin he saw on earth? Blot out man, and every living creature.
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (Chapter 6)
I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them.”
Blot out in another way to say completely wipe out or destroy.
That’s how much God hates sin.
i want you to notice out of all the evil and sin in the world, there was someone who was righteous. someone who pleased God.
you may know who I’m talking about, but let read it in Gods word.
But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. These are the records of the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God.
so, what was his name? Noah
The bible tell us some things about Noah, what are they?
He found favor in the Lords eyes.
He was a righteous man
He walked with God.
He found favor in the sight of the Lord
Grace means unmerited favor
Righteous means to be right with God, to be blameless from evil.
Walking with God is following his ways, listening to His voice, and having the courage to do what He says, to heed his warnings and his instructions.
Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called,
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
Ephesians: The MacArthur New Testament Commentary The Call to the Worthy Walk
to walk in a manner worthy of their calling—to be everything the Lord desires of them.
Walk is frequently used in the New Testament to refer to daily conduct, day-by-day living
col 1.10 “so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;”
col 2.6 “Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,”
1 thes 2.12 “so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.”
Walking in a worthy manner:
Moral purity
Obedience
Wisdom
Spirit filled, under the control of the Spirit
Godliness manifested in your family
Worship & devotion
Warfare of the christian walk
Resisting temptation
Continual confession and repentance
Lets read what God called Noah to do.
Then God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth. “Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with rooms, and shall cover it inside and out with pitch.
What did God tell Noah to build? Ark
(Photos of the Ark)
https://assets.answersingenesis.org/vid/am/v7-n3/was-there-a-ark-flood.mp4
Noah was around 500 yrs old, and it took appox 140 yrs for the Lord to bring the flood.
That is a long time..... many of us grow weary of doing good, we get impatient and give up. Noah was faithful, and worked with courage in the face of, danger, mockery, ridicule.
God told Noah how he can be saved from this punishment of all mankind.
Last time I was here with you i told you we have a choice to feed the desires of the flesh, the sinful nature, or that we can listen to God and obey the Spirit.
Was Noah a perfect man?
Noah was not perfect, he was a sinner just like all men, just like we are.
But God, who is full of grace and mercy saw Noah’s faith and offered him a way to be saved from punishment.
The ark is a symbol of God salvation.
The Ark is a symbol of Jesus Christ who God has given for our salvation from coming judgement
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
Noah was saved by faith just like we are called too salvation.
Noah was divinely warned of things not even seen yet, He warned by God of coming destruction. it was
Noahs faith that led to his obedience and the salvation of his family.
2 Peter 2.5 “and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;”
Peter tells us that Noah was a preacher (herald) of righteousness. We can imagine that he spent his time while building the Ark trying to persuade the people to repent and live righteous by faith. To believe in God and be saved.
Easton’s Bible Dictionary (Judgment, the Final)
JUDGMENT, THE FINAL—the sentence that will be passed on our actions at the last day (Matt. 25; Rom. 14:10, 11; 2 Cor. 5:10; 2 Thess. 1:7–10).The judge is Jesus Christ, as mediator. All judgment is committed to him (Acts 17:31; John 5:22, 27; Rev. 1:7). “It pertains to him as mediator to complete and publicly manifest the salvation of his people and the overthrow of his enemies, together with the glorious righteousness of his work in both respects.”The persons to be judged are, (1) the whole race of Adam without a single exception (Matt. 25:31–46; 1 Cor. 15:51, 52; Rev. 20:11–15); and (2) the fallen angels (2 Pet. 2:4; Jude 1:6).The rule of judgment is the standard of God’s law as revealed to men, the heathen by the law as written on their hearts (Luke 12:47, 48; Rom. 2:12–16); the Jew who “sinned in the law shall be judged by the law” (Rom. 2:12); the Christian enjoying the light of revelation, by the will of God as made known to him (Matt. 11:20–24; John 3:19). Then the secrets of all hearts will be brought to light (1 Cor. 4:5; Luke 8:17; 12:2, 3) to vindicate the justice of the sentence pronounced. The time of the judgment will be after the resurrection (Heb. 9:27; Acts 17:31).
Today we hear the same message to be saved through Jesus Christ.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. “This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. “For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. “But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”
“I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
Who do you think it was that closed the door on the Ark? God
A male and female of each kind entered, just as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord closed the door behind them.
God will judge all sin, but just as God made a way for Noah and his family, He loves you and has made a way for your salvation, what will you chose?
