Introduction:
Introduction here.
Revelation 12:1–9 ESV
1 And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. 2 She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth. 3 And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems. 4 His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it. 5 She gave birth to a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne, 6 and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which she is to be nourished for 1,260 days. 7 Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, 8 but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
Pray.

What are Demons?

Demons are fallen angels who have rebelled against God and continue to propagate evil in the world.
Sam Emadi, “Demons,” in Lexham Survey of Theology, ed. Mark Ward et al. (Bellingham, WA: Lexham Press, 2018).

Fallen Angels Who Rebelled Against God (Rev. 12:1-9)

Rev. 12:1-9

Spiritual Beings with Power and Authority (Eph. 6:11-16)

Ephesians 6:11–16 ESV
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;

They Are the False Gods of the Nations (Deut. 32:15-17)

Deuteronomy 32:15–17 ESV
15 “But Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked; you grew fat, stout, and sleek; then he forsook God who made him and scoffed at the Rock of his salvation. 16 They stirred him to jealousy with strange gods; with abominations they provoked him to anger. 17 They sacrificed to demons that were no gods, to gods they had never known, to new gods that had come recently, whom your fathers had never dreaded.

Idol worship is a form of demon worship as demon spirits impersonate the idol and work their wicked strategies through the system of false religion tied to the false god.

Leviticus 17:7 ESV
7 So they shall no more sacrifice their sacrifices to goat demons, after whom they whore. This shall be a statute forever for them throughout their generations.

What Do Demons Do?

They Engage in Spiritual Warfare (Dan. 10:10-14)

Daniel 10:10–14 ESV
10 And behold, a hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. 11 And he said to me, “O Daniel, man greatly loved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for now I have been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling. 12 Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. 13 The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, 14 and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come.”

They Deceive (1 Kings 22:19-23; 1 Tim. 4:1-3)

1 Timothy 4:1–3 ESV
1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2 through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, 3 who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
A couple of examples:
-Meyers Briggs
-based on Enneagram
-Claudio Naranjo said that he used automatic writing to create the Enneagram personality types
-Automatic Writing - Ouija boards
-Carl Jung
“we must give [psychoanalysis] more time to influence people from many centers....ever so gently to transform Christ back into the soothsaying god of the vine, which he was, and in this way absorb those ecstatic instinctual forces of Christianity...”
Jung believed his house was haunted and he had a demon named Philemon that talked to him and helped him understand these things.
Why should this concern us? Going back to the fact that demons teach false doctrine, we need to understand that there are a lot of Christians today that are following demonic teachings rather than the teachings of Christ. They don’t want to know the truth, because to them ignorance is bliss!
The Bible says otherwise...
Deuteronomy 18:10–13 ESV
10 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer 11 or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, 12 for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you. 13 You shall be blameless before the Lord your God,

They Possess People to Do Their Works of Darkness (Mark 5:1-20)

Mark 5:1-20

Why Do They Matter?

They Are Defeated and Doomed (Luke 8:30-31)

Luke 8:30–31 ESV
30 Jesus then asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion,” for many demons had entered him. 31 And they begged him not to command them to depart into the abyss.

They Will Be Judged (Jude 1:6)

Jude 6 ESV
6 And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day—

They Can Take You With Them (Matt. 25:41)

Matthew 25:41 ESV
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
Conclusion:
All of this talk of demons is not meant to scare anyone, but I do want you to be aware of what is going on around you. You need to know that there is an army of deceptive, evil, and powerful spirits that want to lead you away from the truth as far as possible. They want you to miss the gospel and not be saved.
However, the Bible says, “Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world ().”
You and I do not have to be afraid of these spirits because Christ has already defeated them. Their days are numbered and their time is running out.
Let’s work hard to wage war against the right enemy and take the fight to them. Let’s be bold soldiers of the cross and win souls for Jesus out of the territory of the devil, keeping a watchful eye out because our enemy prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.
