The Ministry of Reconciliation (v17-19)

a) Death
— Your old man is dead
— dead to sin and the powers of sin
Ephesians 4:21-25

21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

— (go through and explain passage highlighting dead with Christ)
Hebrews 9:27 KJV 1900
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
— if you’re saved then you already died, you won’t die again, that means life has already started, when we “die” physically we are just leaving this temporary home and going to our eternal home
b) Life
Colossians 2:12-14

12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 pBlotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

— New life in Christ starts with putting off your old ways and living in new ways, forsaking the flesh and walking in the spirit
— we are dead to sin and alive to Christ
Galatians 2:19–21 KJV 1900
For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
— law, or good works does not equate to righteousness
— faith in Christ equates to righteousness
— good works come from constant and consistent faith
