Healing: (rapa[Hebrew], “to heal”) a process of restoration to a state of well-being or wholeness
Beggar born without sight, his healing brought back his senses(touch, taste, smell, hearing, and sight)
Your healing may be different; family trouble, recurring sin, mental health
Feel as though we need to do something to gain healing
What did beggar do to deserve healing? NOTHING, expect believe that Jesus could heal him(vs 52)
Isaiah 53:4 (CSB)
Yet he himself bore our sicknesses,
and he carried our pains. . .
We did nothing, Jesus did everything on our behalf
We didn’t come to Jesus, but Jesus came to us just he went to the blind beggar
We have to be the ones to humble ourselves to call out to Jesus(vs 49)
Asking for things is prayer
God wants to hear from you; your hurts, pains, the things you care about
Hebrews 4:14–16 CSB
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens—Jesus the Son of God—let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need.
God wants to know on your hearts; so pray for those things
God is not a genie; don’t get 3 wishes
Prayer must align with God’s will for your life, not the other way around
Jesus didn’t get his prayer answered, because it was not what God wanted
Matthew 26:39 CSB
Going a little farther, he fell facedown and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
Even in the face of death, Jesus still wanted God to be in control; example for how we should pray
Seek God first and healing is sure to follow, just be patient
GO!
Now that beggar had that healing done, what is he to do now?
Stay with where he was at and just keep on being a beggar on the side of the street?
NO! Jesus told him to Go; where who knows, but he was to reach out to everyone everywhere
Same for us who have now had our sin taken from us
Go out and reach people!
When God says go, it is a very direct and is intentional; implying importance
Jesus’ Great Commission right before he assented back into Heaven
Told disciples to “Go” and fulfill their mission to reach the world; important!
Matthew 28:18–20 CSB
Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Not when you get around to it, but rather make it a priority
Just as christ was sent, we too must allow God to send us, as christ now lives in us!
Romans 10:14–15 CSB
How, then, can they call on him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about him? And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.
The blessings of following God’s command are greater than anyone could imagine
Get to see friends and family be saved from hell and never truly die
Conclusion:
If unsure about God and if he can truly heal you, then I want you pray this prayer with me
Prayer is not magic, but rather communication with God telling
God is a relationship and wants your trust just as a friend would want your trust
Tired of your illnesses and pains, CALL OUT TO GOD!
