Do not deny the The Son or Father

1 John 2:19-29

1 John 2:19–29 NASB95

They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us. But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. This is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life. These things I have written to you concerning those who are trying to deceive you. As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him. Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming. If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is born of Him.

Lets take some time to recap some of the last 4 weeks of this study of 1 John has shown us.

The Purpose of the Book = That your Joy may be complete

Here John lays out his intention is not to condemn you but to help you

help you to evaluate your life

He contrasts one walking in the Light and he is saying if you do this then Your joy will be full

He contrast with the one still waling in the world still loving the ways of the world still holding on to bits a pieces of the world

By this contrast he begins to distinguish the true believer from the fair weather fan of Jesus

And by doing so It is Johns attempt to wake the sleeper

Remember the purpose that your joy would be full

So he contrasts these things and by doing so he is encouraging all of us here today if your joy is not full if its not complete look within , is there darkness for there is no darkness in the lord do you feel empty look with in is there worldliness and if there is darkness or worldliness He is saying for our Joy to be full and complete we must turn from the way of the world come out of the shadows of darkness and walk in His holy light being pure as he is pure being transformed daily willingly for the love of God by his rich mercy becoming more like his son daily and by doing this our Joy may be full

look at verse 22

Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father.

We can profess to be Christians and yet deny him in how we live

remember what John said a few weeks ago

1 John 1:5–7 (NASB95)

This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Many people profess christ only to deny him in action

Titus 1:16 (NASB95)

They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.

Churchman arguing in meetings not having the slightest bit of the fear of God in his house

Churchman gossiping about one another

Churchman Who live lavish lifestyles and give not to the house of the lord

churchman who would rather give that to serve

Churchman who are chasing teh ways of this world and not the ways of the father

Many say there are hypocytes ive even heard some justify them by sayng well we can use one more.

No people this should not be. WE should not accept that

By doing so our testament to the Lord is that of Hypocicry the very thing jesus dested in the pharosies

Its a lack of fear a lack of faith that shows we deny christ

2 Timothy 2:12 (NASB95)

If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us;

We talked a little bit about the if’s and the then’s

You have the ability to pick up your bible and read and understand it if you have truley come to know the lord he removes the blindness so that we can see his heavenly things by the power of our helper the holy spirit he illuminates the text and causes the true believer to gain understanding

Ive gotten more from reading it myself that school however thats the system we live in today

but For future purposes

I would never discount a man of God because he lacks seminary training

If he is truly a man of God Holy spirit led He will out preach out give and out serve the man with a doctorate degree who fell into the trap of religion

Do not discount yourself

If you think God is calling you go for it He will eqqip you you need not to fear ,

He doesnt call the qualifies he quilifes the called

Romans 13:11–14 ESV

Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

3 times in three verses we see abide in him or him in you

Pretty important

To abide is to live within

To immerse your self within

Forigh exchange student

Is abiding in dustins family

WE should abide in the Fathers family live with in

You cares are his cares

Your priorities are his priorities and his priorities are your priorities and if they are not then possibly this is why your joy is not full

Here is that contrast once again

You cannot love this world the things of the world and have the father and his son too

You cannot serve two masters

You me we all must choose this day whom we shall choose as for me and my house we shall choose the lord my God

Choose this day who you priorities will serve God or Self

God or family

God or sports

God or wealth

God or friends

God or worldly fun

choose wisely for the blessing is great but so is the consequence of choosing this world over God

This will be as good as you ever have it this will be your reward this is it
