Do you see the worth of the church?
· She is part of God's eternal plan, Ephesians 3: 10-11.
10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord,
· Jesus built her, Matthew 16: 16,
16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
· shared his blood for her, Acts 20:28
28 Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.
· and will save her, Ephesians 5: 23.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.
· Through her we offer acceptable praise to God, Ephesians 3: 21.
21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
It will be a terrifying thing to face God on the day of judgment not being a part of the body of Christ, Ephesians 1: 19-23!
19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
In the parable the Pearl seeker sells everything to buy the one valuable Pearl. In our application, we are willing to give up anything and everything to be part of the church. Our money and time is used to advance the cause of Christ, see one Timothy 6: 17- 19; Romans 12: 1-2; Ephesians 2: 10. our mouths confess him, Matthew 10: 32-33, and our bodies serve him, Romans 6: 12-13. In the end, we will be glad that we gave up everything to possess the wonder Kingdom of heaven!
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
32 So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, 33 but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. 13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
