Sermon Tone Analysis

Acts 8:1-4 “Now Saul was consenting to his death.

At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison.

Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.”

8 Saul was one of the witnesses, and he agreed completely with the killing of Stephen.

A great wave of persecution began that day, sweeping over the church in Jerusalem; and all the believers except the apostles were scattered through the regions of Judea and Samaria. 2 (Some devout men came and buried Stephen with great mourning.)

3 But Saul was going everywhere to destroy the church.

He went from house to house, dragging out both men and women to throw them into prison.

4 But the believers who were scattered preached the Good News about Jesus wherever they went.

After this, the church all over Judea, Galilee, and Samaria experienced a season of peace.

The congregations grew larger and larger, with the believers being empowered and encouraged by the Holy Spirit.

They worshiped God in wonder and awe, and walked in the fear of the Lord
