for Demas, because he loved this world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Damaltia”
2 Timothy 4:10

Introduction

How many of you remember reading about the day of Pentecost in the Bible? How the Holy Spirit came down and dwelled in the heart of the believers so close that their tongues caught fire speaking the Word of God? This early church had great power and might. 3000 of those who heard the first sermon that day on Pentecost came to Christ. Imagine how much power was displayed. Imagine if it were to happen today.
But, it’s not. The people in the early church changed the world around them. Today, the world around us is changing the people in our church. In the early days, we read about Christ putting the church in the world, but along comes Satan, who today, is trying to put the world in the church. The thought is scary. Satan putting the world in the church. Think about it. Where would we go to seek sanctuary from the world? When the world has tossed us up, rolled us over, ripped our heart from our chest, and treated us like he did Job. Where would we go then? Where would we go if there was no church, but all that is in the world. That’s scary folks!
