Prophecy Update:

2 Timothy 3:1–2 ESV
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
In the last days there will be difficulty
We have just come out of an unprecedented time of financial growth
Portfolios exploded, Home equity multiplied, and wages increased
The feds kept the interest rates at historic lows which set off a buying spree of houses amongst millennials
The only problem is that left unchecked prices spiral upwards out of control
Inflation is at a 40 year high
Interest rates on loans have sky rocketed
If you could afford a $2500 monthly mortgage and had 20% down you could get a $750,000 house in 2021
In 2022 you could get a $450,000 house
Banks are tightening their lending practices
Even if you have a credit rating of 800 they are hesitant to lend you money for a $700K house that
Gas prices are rising again even though the price of oil hasn’t risen dramatically
In August, 45% of people earning more than $100K, and 27.5% of people earning more than $200K, said they were living paycheck to paycheck.
The national debt is $31 trillion
That’s $93K for every person
We are out of money and there is nothing left to do to stimulate the economy
We are in a recession but we have a government that says we aren’t
They think if they control the narrative then people will go on with their lives
There is some truth to that
2 Timothy 4:3–4 ESV
For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
People point to the jobs market and that we have more jobs available that people to fill them
That sounds positive but people aren’t having babies
We aren’t going to have enough people to do the jobs
How does a Christian navigate what lies ahead?
Paul gives Timothy counsel on that as well
1 Timothy 6:6–10 ESV
But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
