Dearly beloved We are gathered here today in the sight of God, and these witnesses, to celebrate the union of Paul Robertus and Barbara Apicella. This is a union brought together by God, recognized by man, and blessed by the Spirit.
Let’s start this by inviting the Lord here and asking Him to bless it

Prayer

Who Gives this woman to be married to this man?

Wedding Charge

Paul and Barbara, marriage is the most important of all earthly relationships
It should be entered into reverently, thoughtfully and with a full understanding of its sacred nature.
Your marriage must stand by the strength of your faith in Jesus Christ and your love for each other.
As we spent time in counseling you discovered what a Godly marriage looks like
We discussed the blessings and challenges that come from a committed relationship
For a marriage to thrive, Jesus Christ must be at the center
Your faith forms the fabric of a relationship that can withstand the storms you will go through
We also talked about the biblical principle of two becoming one
Ephesians 5:31 ESV
“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”
Marriage isn’t an add on to your current life, but taking a whole new path
It’s joining together as one family and forging ahead on a new path
That is going to take a different kind of love
There will be challenges in your marriage
Those challenges should produce perseverance, character, and hope.
Romans 5:5 ESV
and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
You two can fully love each other because the love of Christ has been poured into your heart
The pure, unconditional, agape love overflows out of you because the Holy Spirit puts it there
If it is not evident it because there is some sin blocking it that needs to be repented of

Declaration of Intent

Paul, do you take the Ashley to be your Wife? Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and protect him/her, forsaking all others and holding only unto her forevermore? (If so say “I do”)
Barbara, do you take the Brandon to be your Husband? Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and protect him/her, forsaking all others and holding only unto him forevermore? (If so say “I do”)

Wedding Vows

“I, Paul, take you, Barbara, to be my lawful wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do us part.”
“I, Barbara, take you, Paul, for my lawful husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do us part.”

Ring Ceremony:

To Barbara: A ring is more than a symbol of your marriage. It is a seal of the vow you have given to one another! The circle of the ring, as far as the eye can see, is a perfect circle, with no beginning or end, so God too has perfect love for you and wants you to love another. The ring is made of precious metal. You are precious in God's sight and now in the love of Paul. When you are absent from one another, the presence of the ring reminds you to be faithful to and fulfill your vow to Paul.
Paul please place the ring on the third finger of the left hand and repeat after me:
Paul: I give you this ring as a token of my love, as a sign that I have chosen you above all others.  With this ring, I thee wed.
To Paul: This ring is a seal of Barbara’s vow to you. She presents this to you as a token of her submission to you in Jesus Christ. This is a symbol of leadership and privilege. God has placed you as the head of the family. You must lead in worship, works and fellowship. As the weaker vessel she depends on you for strength.
Barbara Please place the ring on the third finger of the left hand and repeat after me:
Barbara: I give you this ring as a token of my love, as a sign that I have chosen you above all others.  With this ring, I thee wed.

Unity Candle

Pronouncement

Forasmuch as Paul & Barbara have consented together in holy wedlock, and have witnessed the same before God and this company, by the authority committed unto me as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I declare that Paul & Barbara are now Husband and Wife, according to the ordinance of God, and the law of the State of California: in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Paul, you may now kiss your beautiful bride
