INTRO
Sloth Movie…
Proverbs 6:6–9 ESV
6 Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. 7 Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, 8 she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest. 9 How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep?
Proverbs 24:30–32 ESV
30 I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of a man lacking sense, 31 and behold, it was all overgrown with thorns; the ground was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down. 32 Then I saw and considered it; I looked and received instruction.
Pro 24.33-34 & Pro 6:10-11 = “A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.”

Exodus 20:9–10 ESV
9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates.
We are to work for 6 days !!
Paul = He who does not work should not eat !
God Commends It
Proverbs 28:19 ESV
19 Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits will have plenty of poverty.
God will bless the work of your hands
We were created and commanded will He then withhold !?

Acts 20:34–35 “34 You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my necessities and to those who were with me. 35 In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ””
Rom 12.11 “11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.”

Provision

1 Timothy 5:8 ESV
8 But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
It is very hard for a man to go hungry who is willing to toil for his bread…
Look to the parables of Jesus...
ten talents… day laborers
Peace

When work produces pleasure for others
When work is pleasing to God

The Rest From Works

Faith Not Works
Ephesians 2:8–9 ESV
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Salvation is by faith and not works !
Fruit of Faith
