Give Ear

Introduction

Torah Portion
This Torah Portion goes from Deuteronomy 32:1-52
Last Torah portion we discussed that although we have a pastor, leader, Shepard, or an elder to lead, that it is the Lord the one who commands
Spring rain and Fall rain
Prior to last Torah portion we also talked about The Hebrew Blood Covenant:
Take off Coat/ Robe
Take Off Belt
Cut the Covenants
Raise the Right Arm/Mix w/blood
Exchange Names
Make a Scar
Give Covenant Terms
Eat a Memorial Meal
Plant a Memorial/tree
. First Born
We discussed how Moses, even when leaving, renews the covenant of God with Israel and how he charges Joshua
Talked about the SIN of Israel in their rebellion - and how it compares to us
How God is faithful and does not forget His covenant to us and to Israel
Requirement of our repentance - its prophetic significance for both Israel and us
God = Omnipresent, Omnipotent, Omniscient
We left it at the last verse of our last Torah Portion
Song of Moses this week
Last verse from last Torah Portion
Deuteronomy 31:30 NKJV
Then Moses spoke in the hearing of all the assembly of Israel the words of this song until they were ended:
Moses required to have the whole assembly hear the words of his song from beginning to end, as witnesses
He also wanted other witnesses
How many of you know that a song tells a story
What is the story?
Torah Portion
Deuteronomy 32:1 NKJV
“Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; And hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
If you tell a story you need someone to listen
Give EAR
Deuteronomy 1:45 (NKJV)
Then you returned and wept before the Lord, but the Lord would not listen to your voice nor give ear to you.
Job 9:16 (NKJV)
If I called and He answered me, I would not believe that He was listening to my voice.
Deuteronomy 32:1 NKJV
“Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; And hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
If you tell a story you want witnesses to tell it was true
Moses wanted witnesses, not only in the here and now, but that would outlive his later generations
Heavens and Earth - witnesses
Otherwise who would reproach (rebuke) Israel of the future if they were to deny that they had ever accepted the covenant?
Moses appoints Heavens and Earth which are eternal as witness
These witnesses would take the lead in administering the appropriate punishment if Israel were found to be guilty of breaking the covenant?
Punishment: heavens withholding the rain; earth withholding its produce
Genesis 2:4 NKJV
This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,
God explains that Heavens and Earth are witnesses of His creation and they witness the History of mankind
This also speaks of the Eternal Life of His Sabbath
Why does God have to have witnesses of His creation? Why does Moses have to have witnesses of his song?
Simply because man does not want to listen
Isaiah 64:4 (NKJV)
For since the beginning of the world Men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, Nor has the eye seen any God besides You, Who acts for the one who waits for Him.
Why is hearing important?
Romans 10:17 NKJV
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
The context of this verse is right at the centre of Israel history of being un-repented, not receiving Messiah, which Paul speaks about in Romans
Is that new? - No
Is only Israel that does not want to hear?- No
The “song” that Moses spoke in the hearing of the assembly in Deut 31:30 was intended for a few purposes:
Since the nature of a song is to render recognition of the total harmony of creation, It often mixes past, present and future, for everything is revealed to the prophets as a total reality in which there is no conflict, in which future and past events are not only in complete synchronization (harmony), but they add clarity to one another. Therefore everything is amalgamated as it is happening all together at once. - complete harmony
God speaks and it is a reality; even when have not seen it yet. He speaks in completed reality - a completed reality
This is why God is speaking of Israel as if though everything was taking place today - eternal reality
3. To have heaven and earth to be witnesses of the calamities Israel will face, if they sin - the reality of sin
4. But also to have heaven and hearth to be witness of the joy that will come with the final redemption - the reality of redemptive plan of God
Just as the song recognizes the total harmony of God: past, future and the present, without conflict, in complete synchronization, the covenants of God also do not conflict or replace each other but add clarity to one another. All covenants stand with God
COVENANT
God’s covenants with Israel
Through Moses
Exodus 19:5
Through Abraham
Genesis 12:1-3
Covenant of Land through Abraham
Genesis 13:15
Through David
2 Sam 7:1-17
To establish a Renewed Covenant - through the prophet
Jeremiah 31:31-34
What is then the Song of Moses?
An invitation to covenant
Haazinu is called a song of Moses because it was given to him), but because it is a Jewish custom to always chant it and it is in a poetic form (Ramban).
Rabbi Geadliah Schorr explains that “ ‘song’ implies the concept of harmony (as I explained before), in that people recognize that all elements of the universe fuse in carrying out God’s will, just as all the notes in the score of a complex song, all the instruments of an orchestra, and all the voices in a choir join in harmonious cooperation to create a song, as opposed to disjointed noise that results from the failure of the notes, instruments, and voices to harmonize properly.”
Let us go over the song
Remember a song tells a story
Let us listen to the invitation to Covenant
To do that we will only work on Verses 1-43 of this Torah Portion

Presentation

What does the Song of Moses tell us?
TEACHING OF MOSES
Deuteronomy 32:2 NKJV
Let my teaching drop as the rain, My speech distill as the dew, As raindrops on the tender herb, And as showers on the grass.
לֶ֫קַח
Teaching = Torah (leka)
Asking for the Torah to come down like rain - as our previous Torah portion mentioned the former and latter rain
Teaching also means learning
לֶ֫קַח
לֶ֫קַח S3948 TWOT1124a GK4375 n.m. Pr 4:2 \
S3948 TWOT1124a GK4375 learning, teaching (concrete; prob. what is received);
Francis Brown, Samuel Rolles Driver, and Charles Augustus Briggs, Enhanced Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew and English Lexicon (Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1977), 544.
It also means to take (like in the Take Away)
לָקַח

לָקַח S3947 TWOT1124 GK3689, 4374965 vb. take (NH id., especially buy, and (Niph.) be taken in marriage

It refers to the subject matter being taken by the student from the teacher
Moses asked that the teaching of the Torah would penetrate the nation like life-giving rain, and like a life-giving dew which is even more welcomed than the rain because it is not an inconvenience to anyone
Rain and storm winds give strength and life to vegetation, and similarly the struggle to master the Torah makes the student grow, it then gives fruit
The witnesses of God/ Moses: The heavens from where the rain comes; and the earth from where the dew comes
Psalm 103:15 NKJV
As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
Psalm 72:6 NKJV
He shall come down like rain upon the grass before mowing, Like showers that water the earth.
Next verse
Deuteronomy 32:3 NKJV
For I proclaim the name of the Lord: Ascribe greatness to our God.
Psalm 105:1 NKJV
Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!
When we speak of greatness of God and His kindness, we also need to speak of the great punishments He inflicted Israel because of their disobedience - we need to ascribe greatness to Him in all He does, acknowledging that He is always just.
What does the Song of Moses tell us?
THE PROPHECY
Next verse
Deuteronomy 32:4 (NKJV)
He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.
A prophecy:
Rock is the Word
Psalm 5:8 NKJV
Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; Make Your way straight before my face.
Psalm 18:2 NKJV
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Psalm 18:30 NKJV
As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
Psalm 18:46 NKJV
The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let the God of my salvation be exalted.
Daniel 2:35 NKJV
Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed together, and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors; the wind carried them away so that no trace of them was found. And the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.
Daniel 2:45 NKJV
Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold—the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation is sure.”
What does the Song of Moses tell us?
ISRAEL DISTORTIONS
Next verse
Deuteronomy 32:5 (NKJV)
“They have corrupted themselves; They are not His children, Because of their blemish: A perverse and crooked generation.
Corrupted themselves meaning they did things corruptibly ( depravity) - as they are blemish they are not children of God - perverse (crooked), distorted
Deuteronomy 32:6 (NKJV)
Do you thus deal with the Lord, O foolish and unwise people? Is He not your Father, who bought you? Has He not made you and established you?
Deal = Is that how we pay Him?
What does the Song of Moses tell us?
SECURITY OF THE COVENANT
Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Micah 5:2–3 (NKJV)
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.
Therefore He shall give them up, Until the time that she who is in labor has given birth; Then the remnant of His brethren Shall return to the children of Israel.
The prophecy of the coming Messiah
This is the Father who is a Son
A Son who is a Father
Deuteronomy 32:7–8 NKJV
“Remember the days of old, Consider the years of many generations. Ask your father, and he will show you; Your elders, and they will tell you: When the Most High divided their inheritance to the nations, When He separated the sons of Adam, He set the boundaries of the peoples According to the number of the children of Israel.
He separated the sons of Adam in the Flood
He created boundaries among the people
God also had a covenant with Adam; but he did not Listen
There is a breaking of covenant when we do not give ear
Genesis 3:17 NKJV
Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life.
Hosea 6:7 NKJV
“But like men they transgressed the covenant; There they dealt treacherously with Me.
Men in the original language reads Adam
Hosea 6:7 NLT
But like Adam, you broke my covenant and betrayed my trust.
Man did not listen
Deuteronomy 32:8 (NKJV)
When the Most High divided their inheritance to the nations, When He separated the sons of Adam, He set the boundaries of the peoples According to the number of the children of Israel.
Genesis 11:8–9 NKJV
So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.
The Lord divided His inheritance to Israel among the nations
There consequences to breaking a covenant, and not listening
He separated the children of men according to the children of Israel. After the flood, when all the people who lived together tried to build the tower of Babel (Gen 11), God decided to scatter them. He divided them into 70 languages and separate nations, corresponding to the number of children of Israel, ie. the 70 members of Jacob’s family who would latter come to Egypt
This makes Jacob the measure of His inheritance
Deuteronomy 32:9 NKJV
For the Lord’s portion is His people; Jacob is the place of His inheritance.
The word measure is literally ROPE
Ropes were used to measure the a plot of land
A rope of many strands is stronger than any of the individual strands. Therefore, the Patriarch Jacob is singled out as God’s rope, because he combined the strengths of Abraham, Isaac with his own - Rashi
A strand of three: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
We also have the strand of God in The Father, The Son and the Spirit
What does the Song of Moses tell us?
GOD’S MERCY
Deuteronomy 32:10 NKJV
“He found him in a desert land And in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye.
As the song continues Moses recounts the kindness of God that should have made Israel eternally grateful
Sometimes we forget the wonderful works the Lord has performed in our lives.
We must live grateful lives
During the 40 years, God discovers in the desert land how loyal Israel would be
Nonetheless, God encircles Jacob in the Wilderness - He Tabernacles with him
He surrounded Israel with clouds of glory and protection, with the banners of t he tribes and their formations
He gave them the discernment and wisdom of the Torah
He preserved them in dangerous conditions
Many of us focus only on Israel’s disobedience (in as much as we focus on our own sin), rather than what God was doing
Deuteronomy 32:11 (NKJV)
As an eagle stirs up its nest, Hovers over its young, Spreading out its wings, taking them up, Carrying them on its wings,
The Torah uses the picture of an eagle to describe God’s loving care of Israel, like an eagle tenderly sheltering and ministering to its young
Ruth 2:12 (NKJV)
The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.”
Psalm 91:1–4 (NKJV)
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
Luke 13:34–35 (NKJV)
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!
See! Your house is left to you desolate; and assuredly, I say to you, you shall not see Me until the time comes when you say, Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ”
Again the Father/Son gathering His people under His wings when He comes; when He gathers
He compares Israel to a hen and her children
Isaiah 40:25–31 (NKJV)
“To whom then will you liken Me, Or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One.
Lift up your eyes on high, And see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, By the greatness of His might And the strength of His power; Not one is missing.
Why do you say, O Jacob, And speak, O Israel: “My way is hidden from the Lord, And my just claim is passed over by my God”?
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
No one shall be missing because of the Covenant of God
We wait for Him to lift us up like eagles
Deuteronomy 32:12 NKJV
So the Lord alone led him, And there was no foreign god with him.
Only God - unlike the rest of creation, Israel was not placed under the care of angels, but God Himself walks with Israel
Revelation 12:1–6 (NKJV)
Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars.
Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth.
And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.
His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born.
She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne.
Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.
Again the woman is Israel
The 12 stars the 12 tribes/ 12 apostles / messengers of the Lord
The serpent came after them
Israel has a child - the Hebrew Messiah
A Child in born (Isa 9:6)
He is the first one to resurrect
Then all Israel goes in diaspora for 1260 days
There are approximately 1257 years between the building of the Dome of The ROCK by the Muslim Dynasty of the Umayyad in 661- built on the site of the destroyed Jewish Temples
What does the Song of Moses tell us?
The Song of the Lamb is about being DELIVERED
Revelation 12:14 (NKJV)
But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.
What does the Song of Moses tell us?
ENTICEMENT
Deuteronomy 32:13–14 NKJV
“He made him ride in the heights of the earth, That he might eat the produce of the fields; He made him draw honey from the rock, And oil from the flinty rock; Curds from the cattle, and milk of the flock, With fat of lambs; And rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, With the choicest wheat; And you drank wine, the blood of the grapes.
God would bring them to the Land and enable them to defeat the rulers of that Land, and enjoy the benefits of the conquest.
Deuteronomy 32:15 NKJV
“But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; You grew fat, you grew thick, You are obese! Then he forsook God who made him, And scornfully esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
Jeshurun - Poetic Name for Israel = upright, straight, just, meaning it does not deviate from the high standards demanded by God
This starts off the prophecy that Israel will sin
Prosperity posses a danger: people are prone to indulge in their lusts when they have the resources to do so (Jeshurun grew fat and kicked. You grew thick and obese)
We tend to forget where we came from and forsake God
Deuteronomy 32:16–18 NKJV
They provoked Him to jealousy with foreign gods; With abominations they provoked Him to anger. They sacrificed to demons, not to God, To gods they did not know, To new gods, new arrivals That your fathers did not fear. Of the Rock who begot you, you are unmindful, And have forgotten the God who fathered you.
Gentile gods crept in (Gentile= Ephraim)
They (Israel + referring to Judah ) performed abominations: things that God detests.
They offered to demons - new gods, new arrivals
The Rock who you begot (Rev 12:1-6) Israel being the woman who gave birth to Messiah
What does the Song of Moses tell us?
ISRAEL’S SIN AND JUDGEMENT
Because all of this
Deuteronomy 32:19–20 NKJV
“And when the Lord saw it, He spurned them, Because of the provocation of His sons and His daughters. And He said: ‘I will hide My face from them, I will see what their end will be, For they are a perverse generation, Children in whom is no faith.
When people use God’s blessings (prosperity and wonderful resources) to provoke Him to anger, God will not relent. He will remove blessing and cast them (children) to their enemies
God will remove His presence, Hide His face, as children demonstrate they have no faith, or are not of faith
Deuteronomy 32:21 NKJV
They have provoked Me to jealousy by what is not God; They have moved Me to anger by their foolish idols. But I will provoke them to jealousy by those who are not a nation; I will move them to anger by a foolish nation.
Idolatry again- an idol is not God
Idolatry angers God
Idols are a foolish affair - they have no power, value
A nation that practices idolatry is foolish: no cultural or moral worth
A nation that practices idolatry have no mercy
Hosea 2:23 NKJV
Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!’ ”
1 Peter 2:10 NKJV
who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
Deuteronomy 32:22 NKJV
For a fire is kindled in My anger, And shall burn to the lowest hell; It shall consume the earth with her increase, And set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
1 Peter 4:17 NKJV
For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?
Judgement begins in Israel
There is judgment for disobedience: NT and OT
But he will obtain mercy
Deuteronomy 32:23 (NKJV)
‘I will heap disasters on them; I will spend My arrows on them.
Arrows = Judgements
There are 4 types of Judgements Israel will have to face:
Deuteronomy 32:24 NKJV
They shall be wasted with hunger, Devoured by pestilence and bitter destruction; I will also send against them the teeth of beasts, With the poison of serpents of the dust.
4 Judgements
Hunger (Famine)
2-Pestilences and destruction
3.Beasts
4. Sword
Ezekiel 5:16 NKJV
When I send against them the terrible arrows of famine which shall be for destruction, which I will send to destroy you, I will increase the famine upon you and cut off your supply of bread.
Ezekiel 5:17 NKJV
So I will send against you famine and wild beasts, and they will bereave you. Pestilence and blood shall pass through you, and I will bring the sword against you. I, the Lord, have spoken.’ ”
Revelation 6:7–8 NKJV
When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.
Ezekiel 14:21 NKJV
For thus says the Lord God: “How much more it shall be when I send My four severe judgments on Jerusalem—the sword and famine and wild beasts and pestilence—to cut off man and beast from it?
Ezekiel 6:8 NKJV
“Yet I will leave a remnant, so that you may have some who escape the sword among the nations, when you are scattered through the countries.
Deuteronomy 32:25–26 NKJV
The sword shall destroy outside; There shall be terror within For the young man and virgin, The nursing child with the man of gray hairs. I would have said, “I will dash them in pieces, I will make the memory of them to cease from among men,”
Romans 6:23 NKJV
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Lord will judge by His sword ( His word) righteousness and justice
Jeremiah 51:11 NKJV
Make the arrows bright! Gather the shields! The Lord has raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes. For His plan is against Babylon to destroy it, Because it is the vengeance of the Lord, The vengeance for His temple.
What does the Song of Moses tell us?
GOD’S PAUSE
Deuteronomy 32:27 NKJV
Had I not feared the wrath of the enemy, Lest their adversaries should misunderstand, Lest they should say, “Our hand is high; And it is not the Lord who has done all this.” ’
Israel enemies (as God said He would give them to their enemies) will think that they prevailed on their own independently from God’s anger
But this will be their end because it will cause God to intervene on the side of Israel because of his covenant with them.
Deuteronomy 32:28–29 NKJV
“For they are a nation void of counsel, Nor is there any understanding in them. Oh, that they were wise, that they understood this, That they would consider their latter end!
After so much Israel will have to face because of their sin, God pauses. he said that He would scatter them and bring an end to them - a fate that they would deserve because of their sin. But that would cause the NAME of God to also be desecrated, because the enemies of Israel would believe that they overcame God’s opposition and prevailed wth their own strength. They would never believe they succeeded because God used them as His rod. To prevent this from happening, God will stay their hand
A nation void of counsel
With no common sense - ignorant
Luke 23:34 NKJV
Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.
Ephesians 4:17–18 NKJV
This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;
There is no wisdom when separated from God
Deuteronomy 32:29 (NKJV)
Oh, that they were wise, that they understood this, That they would consider their latter end!
What does the Song of Moses tell us?
THE JUSTICE AND MERCY OF GOD IN THE END TIMES
Deuteronomy 32:30–32 NKJV
How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Unless their Rock had sold them, And the Lord had surrendered them? For their rock is not like our Rock, Even our enemies themselves being judges. For their vine is of the vine of Sodom And of the fields of Gomorrah; Their grapes are grapes of gall, Their clusters are bitter.
Ephraim - the prodigal son and Judah the older brother
Vine = John 15:1-8
Ephraim ends in Sodom and Gomorrah
According to the plan of God - ROCK
There is no comparison between their rock (god) and the true Rock (God)
Joseph is sent into paganism for a purpose
Genesis 45:4–8 NKJV
And Joseph said to his brothers, “Please come near to me.” So they came near. Then he said: “I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life. For these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting. And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.
The Prophet Zechariah explains it like this
Zechariah 14:1–10 NKJV
Behold, the day of the Lord is coming, And your spoil will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city shall be taken, The houses rifled, And the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then the Lord will go forth And fight against those nations, As He fights in the day of battle. And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, Which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, From east to west, Making a very large valley; Half of the mountain shall move toward the north And half of it toward the south. Then you shall flee through My mountain valley, For the mountain valley shall reach to Azal. Yes, you shall flee As you fled from the earthquake In the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Thus the Lord my God will come, And all the saints with You. It shall come to pass in that day That there will be no light; The lights will diminish. It shall be one day Which is known to the Lord Neither day nor night. But at evening time it shall happen That it will be light. And in that day it shall be— That living waters shall flow from Jerusalem, Half of them toward the eastern sea And half of them toward the western sea; In both summer and winter it shall occur. And the Lord shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be “The Lord is one,” And His name one. All the land shall be turned into a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be raised up and inhabited in her place from Benjamin’s Gate to the place of the First Gate and the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s winepresses.
What does the Song of Moses tell us?
Deuteronomy 32:34–41 (NKJV)
Is this not laid up in store with Me, Sealed up among My treasures?
Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; Their foot shall slip in due time; For the day of their calamity is at hand, And the things to come hasten upon them.’
“For the Lord will judge His people And have compassion on His servants, When He sees that their power is gone, And there is no one remaining, bond or free.
He will say: ‘Where are their gods, The rock in which they sought refuge?
Who ate the fat of their sacrifices, And drank the wine of their drink offering? Let them rise and help you, And be your refuge.
‘Now see that I, even I, am He, And there is no God besides Me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; Nor is there any who can deliver from My hand.
For I raise My hand to heaven, And say, “As I live forever,
If I whet (sharpen) My glittering sword, And My hand takes hold on judgment, I will render vengeance to My enemies, And repay those who hate Me.
In store with Me, waiting for the appropriate time to be revealed
Deuteronomy 32:42–44 (NKJV)
I will make My arrows drunk with blood, And My sword shall devour flesh, With the blood of the slain and the captives, From the heads of the leaders of the enemy.” ’
“Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people; For He will avenge the blood of His servants, And render vengeance to His adversaries; He will provide atonement for His land and His people.”
So Moses came with Joshua the son of Nun and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people.
Revelation 22:1–5 NKJV
And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.
Revelation 15:3–4 NKJV
They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: “Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints! Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, For Your judgments have been manifested.”
