They are conditioned to be disciplined to obey the commands of their superiors. In a sense, they stop seeing themselves as they were before boot camp, and when they look into a mirror, they see the soldier they have become, and the qualities that are part of that.” - Jerry Blaxton

There are few things as satisfying as reaching a major goal. Educational or workplace, relationships, financial, etc. There is a sense of completion when these happen. And yet, at the same time, there is a sense that something is still missing.

The broad idea is that those who desire for God will find a fulfillment that is found nowhere else in creation. All other desires, longing, pursuits, and causes will ultimately leave a person empty and hollow. Even when a great quest has been completed, the emptiness that follows is deafening.
