Finding True Rest
Scripture: Mt 11:28-30
Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. --- Mt 11:28-30
Thrust: Only when we accept Jesus' invitation of having a binding relationship with Him can we learn to find true rest for our souls.
For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. --- Mt 23:4

I. An Invitation to Rest Our Souls
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils of the breath of life; and man became a living soul. --- Gen 2:7
1. We Can Lose Our Soul
For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?--- Mt 16:26
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.--- Mt 10:28
2. Fragility of the Soul
Why my soul are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? --- Ps 42:11
Why did I not die at birth? Why did I not perish when I came from the womb, for now I would have been lain still and been quiet, I would have been asleep; then I would have been at rest. --- Job 3:11-13
3. Dehumanization of the Soul
Losing the very consciousness and awareness of himself; becomes something else beside his original creation - the image of God.
4. Our Souls Do Not Belong To Us
Behold all souls are mine ... --- Eze 18:4

II. The Solution For True Rest
1. We Need To Be Yoked With Christ
Take My yoke upon you ... For My yoke is easy and my burden is light. --- Mt 11:29-3
Greek word for easy is chrestos meaning "well-fitting"
2. We Need to Learn From the Burden Bearer
---
Challenge
You belong to God and are precious to Him.
We need to choose to be yoked to God and to learn from Him.
