Matthew 13:53–58 (KJV 1900)
53 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence. 54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? 55 Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? 56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? 57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. 58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
The name of this message is the POWER of HONOR.
The purpose of this sermon is show how critical it is to HONOR and to HONOR one another.
Honor is so CRITICAL that it even restraint the hand of God.
Honor is equivalent it a synonym to worship, faith, love, seek, and belief.
It impossible to please God without honor
It is impossible to worship God without honor
In fact, before we pray we must honor God name.
We should also honor one another as humans created in God’s image.
The people in the above passage fail to honor Jesus as he was walking in his earthly calling as prophet. Proclaiming the Isaiah proclaiming his God-given assignment.
Luke 4:18–19 KJV 1900
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
As he shared the people that knew began dishonor his proclamation by speaking of how they saw him a child, capertener.
When we honor people we must see them as God see them
Ex Gideon, Moses, Abraham, David
Mark 6:4–6 (KJV 1900)
4 But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. 5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. 6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
What is Biblical Honor?
In the Old and New Testament word for Honor is means weighty, heavy, highly respect, celebrate, esteem, favor
Dishonor to treat common, ordinary
Dishonor prevents God from doing mighty works therefore we do not get our our full reward and Dishonor restrains the God from doing mighty works.
How many in here wants to receive their FULL REWARD and How many wants God to Mighty works.
What is full reward?
2 John 8 (KJV 1900)
8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
The full reward is all of God’s promise, mighty works, and benefits. All of God’s kingdom promise in this and the life to come.
2 Peter 1:3–4 (KJV 1900)
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
1 Corinthians 2:9–10 KJV 1900
9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
Psalm 103:1–5 KJV 1900
1 Bless the Lord, O my soul: And all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; So that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Honoring God and putting Him is the key to receiving ALL of his promises. Nothing missing nothing broken. Not just settling a lukewarm take or leave relationship with God. But a deep, genuine meaningful relationship where we thirst for the thing of God. We need to like John and go after His full reward.

Example: In the military that does honor the oath they take can receive a dishonorable discharge, bad conduct discharge, or an other honorable discharge and lose some all their benefits. In other word they do not get there full reward.
Only those that served with Honor can receive His full reward.
It’s been years since Pastor Henderson served in the Army but is still benefiting from some the rewards because he able use the some his veterans benefits today.
Be if his honorable service he is able to reap the rewards .

Dishonoring God, people, and principles always lead to failure and lack.

And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: 7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. 8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. 10 And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.
