18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
The vision of Vulcan Assembly of God is: “To be a Going, Giving, and Growing Church.”
The writer of the proverb we read explains the importance of vision. Without a clear vision we will perish. A vision helps keep us focused on why God has us here and what He wants us to do. It gives us a goal of what we believe God wants us to do.
The first part of our vision is to go.
The second part of our vision is it give.
37 “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
In Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount, shares four actions that have positive results— judge and we will not be judged, condemn and we not be condemned, forgive and we will be forgiven, give and it will be given back to us.
Each of the actions are humanly impossible. It takes God supernatural help to refrain from judgement and condemnation and to extend forgiveness and generosity.
But with God’s help, He will do for us what we cannot do for ourselves.
Our congregation gives in many ways. We give to missions in our world, our country, and our community. We give our times and talents to extend God’s Kingdom.
Why does God want us to give?
How have you experienced God’s blessings through giving?
Can anyone share a specific testimony about giving?
Let’s pray God continues to help us prioritize giving our times, talents, and resources to the Lord.
