Verse 1
What does a shepherd do?
How are we like sheep?
Be Worshipful Psalm 23

in this psalm, he pictured God’s people as lowly sheep. Why? So we would learn about the Shepherd and see how tenderly He cares for us. Sheep are defenseless animals that are prone to get lost, and they need almost constant care. You can’t drive sheep, as you do cattle; they must be led. The eastern shepherds know their sheep by name and can call them and they will come (John 10:1–5). The sheep were kept, not for food but for wool, milk, and reproduction. In this psalm, David explains that if we follow the Lord and trust Him, He will meet our every need, no matter what the circumstances may be.

Verse 2
Green pastures- We are led to places good for us. God leads us to the places good for our health. Don’t trust yourself to find the best nourishment. Lean on God.
Still water is safer, moving water is a drowning hazard. Moving water can weigh down.
Verse 3
Restores
Why do you need restoring?
Path of righteousness
How does this look?
Is it a path you find on your own?
His name’s sake
Why does God do this all? He is a good shepherd for his sake. We benefit from his sake.
Verse 4
Shadow of death

23:4 a dark valley The psalmist acknowledges that life will not always be characterized by green pastures and quiet waters (v. 2). He will walk through darkness or gloom (107:10; Job 10:22).

When i think about the shadow is we don’t die but the effects of it can be seen around us.
We have to go through valleys sometimes to reach the green pastures on the other side.
Fear no evil
Not given a spirit of fear
Why should we not fear evil?
Why do we fear evil?
Rod and staff
bring comfort as the sheep walk under it being counted at night
What are some other uses?
Verse 5
In the presence
We don’t hide from the enemy, but we feast while they are all around us.
We don’t have to cower, we serve the God of angel armies
Prepared in the presence of the enemy (this is like an ultimate flex)
Anoint my head
Why was this done?
We can self destruct if God did not intervene
Cup overflows
God gives more than we need
Verse 6
