UNDERSTANDING KINGDOM STEWARDSHIP
GENESIS 2:8,15
When God created world, it took him six days and on the sixth day he created man and he put man in the garden to take care of it. In other words Adam became responsible and accountable for the garden that God created.
Paul calls us all “stewards.” A steward handles what belongs to someone else.
J. Vernon McGee
This means from the very beginning, God created man as a steward and therefore it is important to understand kingdom stewardship.
The steward is not the owner.
R. T. France
WHAT IS KINGDOM STEWARDSHIP?
It is how we use what God has entrusted to us to promote the agenda of the kingdom. Because God never gives up ownership.
It is the recognizing of God as the owner and the delegator and rewarder and we as the one responsible and accountable.
You are responsible for whatsoever God entrusts to you and he holds you accountable for it.
It demands that you prioritize the things of the kingdom
In the kingdom, God expects stewardship to cover everything about you. Your entire life. It goes beyond money.
All Christians are but God’s stewards. Everything we have is on loan from the Lord, entrusted to us for a while to use in serving Him. – John MacArthur
The concept of Kingdom stewardship can simplified as how you order your life for the kingdom.
QUALITIES OF A STEWARD
take advantage of the time, your time. Kingdom stewardship is necessary for the vital component of a Church. Nothing commands your greatness like stewardship. 1 Tim 3:15-16
Examine the cause of your life. How am I working. It is when you are tested you are given testimonial. Lam. 3:40, 2 cor 13:5
A good steward is not desirous of power.
A good steward is receptive to new ideas. They are flexible.
A good steward knows what they have. Come let us build. We instead of I. If we are united like rain, we will be strong like an ocean. Team means together everyone achieve more. Building a team by working with others.
We are the stewards of everything God has conferred on us by which we are able to help our neighbor, and are required to render account of our stewardship.
John Calvin
TYPES OF KINGDOM STEWARDSHIP
stewardship of your life
Matthew 5:14-16
1 Cor. 6:19-20
2 Corinthians 6:14
It involves living your life for the glory of God. God is the potter and we're the clay. We must allow him use us, not we trying to use him. This starts with
Personal consecration which involves two things separation and dedication.
Separating from the world means you don't conform to it standards and dedication requires you present your body as a living sacrifice.
Living with a sense of purpose.
purpose is reason why you are here. It's doing the will of God.
Associations -
You are responsible for your character, attitude and lifestyle.
Your life is a gift from God and what you do with it is your gift to him
Even Jesus said i came to do the will of the father.
When the possessor of heaven and earth brought you into being and placed you in this world, He placed you here not as owner but as a steward.
—John Wesley
John Wesley
2 Stewardship of our words
Matthew 12:35-37 James 3:5
our words are like seeds when we speak them and they go forth. Jesus says we will give account of our words. In proverbs 18:21
Your tongue is what you use to steer your life. You direct your life
"You may recover from a slip of the foot but you may never recover from the slip of the tongue" Benjamin Franklin
3 Stewardship of your time
Ephesians 5:16 or Colossians 4:5
time management
God dwells in eternity and he is Lord over time but he tells to use time wisely. John 9:4
There is a divine calendar at work when he expects to work. Lam. 3.27
Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money but you get more time. You choose therefore to invest your time not just spend it.
Maximizing our time demands focus.
Are you keeping your word? Are you finishing what you start? Are you being a good steward of the time and funds entrusted to you? Is your gaze on that which is instructive or destructive?
Ron McManus
4 Stewardship of our financial resources
In Deut 8.18 God says he is the one that gives us the power to get wealth. 1 Tim. 6.17
Your finance is an important place to start learning how to trust God. Money must be given a mission.
A brother in this Church wanted to roof his house but he decided to give it to the Church. Putting the kingdom first
When Jesus said he that is faithful in little is faithful in much. Luke 16.10-11
