Of faith is a genitive of content; the shield consists of faith. The idea, then, is that a Christian’s resolute faith in the Lord can stop and extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one aimed at him.
Ephesians 2:8 CSB
For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—
James 1:5–7 CSB
Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord,
1 Peter 1:7 CSB
so that the proven character of your faith—more valuable than gold which, though perishable, is refined by fire—may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 11:1 CSB
Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.
The Devil is called the Evil One here like in the Lords prayer. Or deliver us from evil. He is evil personified.
The flaming darts were used to set things on fire not to shoot directly at soldiers.
What we see is Satan’s attacks in the form of insults, setbacks, and temptations. Satan wants to distract us from following God. Faith protects us from this.
Faith gives us the courage to stand against Satan with firm courage even when he uses his most feared weapons.

Roman Shields were 2 and a half feet wide and 4 feet high.

made of two wood planks glued together with the outer surface covered first with canvas and then with calf skin. There was a metal strip on the top and bottom edges, which protected the wood when it hit the ground and a center iron boss, which caused most stones and heavy arrows to glance off.

Ephesians The Armor Needed for the Spiritual Battle (6:13–17)

shaped like a door. In fact its name, thyreos, came from the word for door, thyra.

We think of shields as defensive but in the Roman army they were offensive. Our faith does not put us on the defence. I think it would be accurate to say that God wants us to win on offence and defence. He does not give us the shield of faith so that we can be 1 dimensional but rather multidimensional.
The boss in the center could totally be weaponized.
In addition to all this - The shield of faith is the piece that protects the other pieces of armor. You need faith. Faith is everything. It protects everything as you walk with God. That is why David says you are a shield around me. He recognized that God was all around him protecting every side and angle of him.
Unlike some pieces of armor, which are fastened in place to guard only certain parts of the body, a shield can be deployed and maneuvered to fend off all missiles, wherever they are coming from and toward whatever part of the body they are headed.

Show picture of how the shield was used.
Our faith is made stronger when we join it with the faith of others.

By the way they also stood in there with Jesus.
Take up the shield of faith and be a part of a team that wins on defence and offence.
Scripture reading Psalm 3
Psalm 3 CSB
A psalm of David when he fled from his son Absalom. Lord, how my foes increase! There are many who attack me. Many say about me, “There is no help for him in God.” Selah But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. I cry aloud to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain. Selah I lie down and sleep; I wake again because the Lord sustains me. I will not be afraid of thousands of people who have taken their stand against me on every side. Rise up, Lord! Save me, my God! You strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked. Salvation belongs to the Lord; may your blessing be on your people. Selah
