Introduction
The verses before us introduce that great event anticipated for centuries and about which the Old Testament prophets wrote.
It is the golden age on earth when all creation shall be subject to its Creator and Redeemer. But before He reigns He must subdue every enemy and opposing force. The conflict of Armageddon is about to occur.
The Bible was never silent on the subject. In fact, Christ's second coming to rule and reign on Earth is emphasized at some point in at least 17 Old Testament books; Jesus Christ referred to His second coming 21 times, and 7 out of every 10 chapters in the New Testament mention His second coming.
For every one Bible verse referring to Christ's first coming, there are eight verses on His second coming.
Up to this point Christ has been directing earth’s judgments from His throne in Heaven, but now He leaves Heaven and descends to earth for the purpose of completing the work of judgment before He establishes His millennial Kingdom.

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
This is the climax of the entire Bible!
The prophets of the Old Testament pointed to this event; Jesus predicted it and the writers of the New Testament wrote about it. Everything we have been studying in this book has been leading to Christ’s second coming. In this portion John addresses the advent or appearing of Christ on earth. For centuries, scoffers have tauntingly asked, “Where is the promise of His coming?” Those scoffers will be silenced one day.
The Second Coming of Jesus must not be confused with the Rapture! The Rapture is different than the Revelation of Jesus Christ from heaven.
At the rapture Jesus is coming for His church; at the revelation Jesus is coming with His church!

At the rapture He is coming in secret, at the revelation He is coming in spotlight.
At the rapture He is coming privately, at the revelation He is coming publicly.

At the rapture He is going to call saints out of the grave, at the revelation He is going to put sinners in the grave.
He’s coming back to take back, to take down, to take names, and take over.
He’s the King of kings and Lord of lords.”

11 ...and behold a white horse;
John sees a white horse. Why is Jesus riding on a white horse?
In John’s day conquering kings would ride white horses as a symbol of victory. Roman generals would ride in triumphal processions through the streets of Rome. Jesus Christ will come back from heaven riding victoriously on a white stallion! The heaven will open and the King will come riding victoriously on a white horse.

These terms are indicative of Who the Lord is and what the Lord does. He is faithful and truthful and He acts consistently and truthfully!
David Levy wrote, “He is called ‘Faithful’ meaning trustworthy, or one who can be relied upon. He is faithful to keep all of His promises … He is ‘True’—that is, genuine or real, compared to that which is false.” If you know the Lord Jesus you know Him to be faithful and true!

21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
