No Shame In The Gospel

Romans 1:16-17 “16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.””

Introduction

The world we’re in now is full of evil and unrighteousness...
God is looking for people who aren’t ashamed to live holy in this present world...
He is looking for people who aren’t ashamed of the Gospel of His Son, Jesus Christ...

Point 1 - The Gospel

The Gospel is the good news of Jesus Christ - God’s word. And the bible isn’t just an average run-of-the-mill-book.
Studying and applying God’s word to our lives gives us power. To receive this power we must believe in Jesus Christ.
The Gospel is for everyone who believes in Jesus.

Point 2 - Some People Reject The Gospel

There were some Jewish people in Jesus’ day who rejected the gospel and some of them sentenced Jesus to the death on the cross.
When God’s chosen people rejected the Gospel, God sent preachers like Paul into the world to preach the Gospel to the Greeks, to the Gentiles.
And Paul wasn’t ashamed to preach the good news to people because he wanted people to be saved from eternal death.

Point 3 - The Challenges Of Paul’s Day

Paul and the believers in His day were persecuted and tempted to be ashamed of the Gospel.
Paul was beaten and incarcerated for preaching the Gospel. Paul was eventually put to death because of his position on spreading the Good News wherever he went.
People back then, like today, don’t want to hear the Gospel, or should I say live righteous lives to receive Salvation.
The seventeenth verse says “For in it (the Gospel) the rightheousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
The people in our day want the benefits of the Gospel, but don’t want to live righteous lives, free from the rule of the flesh.

Conclusion - Are We Ashamed?

Let’s examine ourselves everyday. Are we ashamed of the Gospel of Christ?...
Are we afraid of what people will say and do to us?...
Are we hiding our faith and denying the gospel?...
Jesus also said in Matthew 10:32-33 “32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.”
Are we living in a way that doesn’t reflect the righteousness of God?
Jesus said in Matthew 5:14-16 “14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Don’t be ashamed of the Gospel, live the Gospel because it is the power of the God to Salvation for everyone...
