The Gospel of John is one of the four gospels. The other three gospels are similar in style. They give briefer descriptions of events but cover more ground.
The Gospel of John is much different. It gives much more detail in the stories that it tells.
Chapter 13- Jesus washes his disiciples’ feet - acts of loving generosity are to be the hallmarks of Jesus’ followers. (John 13:34)
Chapter 14- Jesus is going away so he can send the Spirit
Chapter 14- The one God consists of the loving relationship between the Father, Son, and Spirit
Chapter 15- Jesus’ disciples are those who abide in His love
What he is talking about in chapter 15 is how the personal love of Jesus can permeate a person's life: healing, transforming, and making them new.
Also, important to note is that the chapter before 15 and after 15 all have to do with the themes of the Spirit and showing acts of loving service.
How are these themes of the Spirit, Love, and Abiding connected?
