Promises for the Bride
God invented wedding He chose wife for first Adam, He created her, for him.
The Greatest Wedding is coming up
Matthew 22:2-4; Revelation 19:7-9
Bride represents the Church
Ephesians 5:25-27
The greatest pleasure you can enjoy is in “dating” Christ
History of Weddings in the days of Jesus
---beginning; groom’s promise; a groom prepares the place for his bride; the bride waits; the bridesmaids; the bridegroom comes; the bridal chamber; married life begins.
- - it happened that bridegroom wasn’t serious so, he didn’t come for the bride
IS HE COMING BACK
PROMISE #1. Jesus Made a Covenant (makes a covenant or contract promise)
Covenant – Agreement, Treaty, Promise, Pledge
Covenant – an agreement between two people that involves promises on the part of each to the other. (God made a covenant with Abraham, promising him to bless his future generations, Abraham, in return must be faithful to God)
Jeremiah 31:31 “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.”
Covenant – God giving you holiness, righteousness and you accept it (believe)
He gave covenant to prepare us
PROMISE #2. Jesus drank the cup of salvation (drink the cup of wine to seal the covenant)
Matthew 26:27 “He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Jesus drank the cup – represented His sufferings, death
Jesus sealed the promise with dying for us
By drinking the cup, Jesus proved that loves you more than life, and that He is serious about wanting you to be in heaven with Him
(example, no one who would want to marry you, will die for you)
PROMISE #3 Jesus promised us that He is coming back (groom's speech of promise to his bride that he would come to claim her soon)
You can rely on God, He is immoveable, doesn’t changes His mind
John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwellings; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that were I am, there you may be also.”
Acts 1:11 “This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
