I WANT TO BE LIKE JESUS
(Jesus and People)
Jesus had big heart toward needy (hunting, good samaritan)
Jesus wore servant hood garment
Bondage in slavery, freedom is serving
Slave has to – a servant gets to
Slave does the minimum requirements – a servant reaches the maximum potential
Slave is bound – a servant is free
Slave fights for his rights – a servant lays down his rights
- washed feet; acted like one:
Jesus had forgiving attitude
Forgiveness is free from bitterness; revenge; (they deserved)
Forgiveness sets you free before it will set some body free
Forgiveness demands change
Jesus was trustworthy
TRUST – is benefit of integrity
Integrity – possession of high moral standards (do good when no one is watching)
Integrity – is not determined by circumstances
is not to be confused with reputation
REPUTATION – what you ought to be; photograph CHARACTER – what you are; face
Jesus never allowed people to take God’s place in His life
Jesus never changed the truth in order to please people
Jesus offended people as a result of obeying His Father and serving others, not because of serving Himself. offense causes hurt; anger; - 1 Peter 2:6-8 “rock of offense” - offended PHARISEES; HIS OWN TOWN; FAMILY MEMBERS; STAFF; CLOSE FRIENDS; JOHN BAPTIST
- devils trick is to keep the offense hidden; clothed with pride; pride will never admit true condition.
