Pitfalls of Dating
Dating is having a romantic interest in a person of the opposite gender and cultivating that interest through thoughts, looks, notes, talks, and events.
Dating a lot of people is healthy and prepares you for marriage
In order to date many people you ought to brake up with many people The more you brake up the easier it gets We are preparing ourselves for divorce not marriage by dating for create habit of braking up
Dating helps us to get to know the other person
Dating is the time when you will know nothing about the real person you dating By the time he/she gets real with you, you have already become attached
Dating relationships mostly built on nothing more than physical attraction and they mistake that for love
Love is value Physical attractions should not be our foundation for marriage, for it’s subject to change
Dating promotes “romance” not “genuine love”
Romance – extravagant stories, usually a tale of love or war, subjects interesting in sensibilities of the heart, or the passions of wonder and curiosity The word “romance” doesn’t appear in the Bible, when the word “love” does more than 500 times You know you love somebody, when meeting THEIR need is more important than meeting your won need
Dating distracts us from pursuing the Lord
The first commandment: Thou shall have no other “gods” before Me
Dating creates jealousy and division in the ministry
Dating creates intimacy without commitment
Affections should always follow the commitment, not commitment affections Teens want to enjoy the emotional and physical benefits of an intimate relationship without the responsibility of a life-long commitment If you love to ride BMW you ought to be ready to pay the bills for it as well
Dating often jumps over the foundations of friendship
Romance will come and go, but friendships are forever Relationships that are build upon physical attractions and intimate feelings will last only as long as the feelings last, but friendship grow stronger with time
Dating isolates couples from important relationships
Dating couples concentrate selfishly on each other at the expense of all other relationship Relationship with Church Relationship with Family Relationship with best Friends Relationship with God
Dating causes discontentment with God’s gift of singleness
Teenage years are given to you by God for a purpose, you will never ever have them again No filly on your arms will make you happy, happiness is your choice
Dating distracts from preparing properly for their future
Instead of developing gift, ability, character and education teens concentrate on present need of romantic intimacy Teenage years are “tithe” years
7 years you are teenager 70 years we live on this earth (Ps.90:10) The rest of your life is determined by decisions you are making now Teenage years are “seed” years
85% of people that ever get saved they do it by time they are 18 Marriage decision is made during our teenage years We chose our vocation in our teenage years How would you prepare for an exam that will determine your high school diploma?
African leader set rules and laws in his camp. His brother broke those rules and laws. The punishment is 100 lashes. God said that: 1. No other God before Him; 2. No craven images of God (create God that fits us); 3. Not to take His name in vain (instead of using filthy word we reduce the Name of the Most High to the level of the filthy word) 4. Keep Sabbath (having a day where the whole day is centered on God alone) 5. Honor your parents (not just obey them) 6. Do no kill (Jesus said who ever hates his brother without cause is guilty of hell) 7. Do not commit adultery (looking at opposite gender with lust). 8. Do not steal (even small thing; take what is not yours) 9. Do not witness falsely (one lie is enough to make you a liar) 10. Do not covet (to be materialistically greed driven).
We are His precious ones have broken all of them. The punishment awaits us in future. The very fact that Jesus was punished for our sins is the proof that God will punish our sin without any mercy. A victim was scourged and stripped and tied to a whipping post. Then he was beaten mercilessly with a whip consisting of several leather strings, each loaded with jagged pieces of metal or bone and weighted at the end with lead. Parts of the body would be torn from Jesus, most of the victims didn’t survive this ordeal. You can accent the paid fine paid by Jesus or pay it by self later in eternity.
