The DNA of Christianity
We are known for our love not our prosperity or holiness (John 13:34-35) ~ tree is known for it’s fruit (Luke 6:44)
Love is not the root but the fruit of Christianity
Love – is a verb not a feeling; it’s a value we place on a person or an event
Love for God
We are commanded to love God (Mt.22:37-40)
We are not commanded to believe or to know God but to love Him OT commanded to have no other god’s “service to God”; NT commands to render love to God “relationship with God” Love is a sacrifice but not a discipline Love for God causes the doing of the commandments of God (John 14:15, 23-24) The commandment of God is to love others (Rom.13:8-10)
God’s happiness is in your safety; your safety is in keeping the commandments Youth don’t feel loved or loveable nor do they know the definition of love Some are so hungry , so thirsty, for appreciation, recognition, respect, worth, importance, significance, to be understood, to be honored that they will swallow anything, just as starting man will eat grass We are commanded to love ourselves
Love of God
Your love for God is as big as your knowledge of His love toward you (1 John 4:19)
Love of God > Love for God > Commandment = Love Others & Self Sinful woman loved Jesus more than righteous Pharisee because she received more (Luke 7:40-42) We are commanded to love others as we were loved by the Father (1 John 4:7) Jesus did the will of the Father out of the love for the Father (John 14:31)
Father loved the precious Son with everything within Him (Mt.3:17)
And along with the Spirit, a voice: "This is my Son, chosen and marked by my love, delight of my life."
Jesus loved us out of the overflow of the love of the Father (John 15:9) God’s love is eternal (no end), immutable (no change) and infinite (no boundaries)
Explaining the love of God – hold the ocean in the hand, embrace the space or reach the starts The glimpse of the love of God (1 Cor.13) God loves you in spite of you not for what He can get God loves you as father loves the child God created the earth and everything in it for you only and you for Himself “for God loved you “so much” that He gave His Son” (John 3:16) To receive the love of God: become a child (Mt.18:3)
