The Mind of Christ
What ever man thinks in his heart so is he (Prov.23:7) – think to being, being to doing, doing to getting
Renewal of mind always precedes the transformation of life (Rom.12:2)
We have the mind of Christ (1 Cor.2:16)
Jesus did different things and said different things than others because He saw different things
Man thinks like the enemy (Mt.16:13)
God cannot afford to think like man because its man who ought to strive to think like God (Is.55:8-9)
The Mind of Christ: Unseen, not Seen
The roots of Jesus were planted deep in hidden life (prayer, wilderness, 30 years, do not tell no one) Jesus is attracted by the leaves (visible) but captured by the fruit (hidden) (Mt.21:18-19) Private, not public
God is not the rewarder of publicity not of privacy (Mt.6:6) The depth of your privacy with God need to exceed the height of your publicity with people Test: do you get more happy and upset about your private or public life? Many of us are focused on private life with God but our hearts are captured by the publicity Inward, not outward (heart “tree” is the source)
The Mind of Christ: Spiritual, not Natural
Jesus – the expert on supernatural realm (spirit in a man; angels ministering; casting out the demons; moved by the Spirit) The teachings of Jesus on invisible world (new birth, live by the bread) Natural is the fruit of the supernatural (sickness – demons; defeat the strong man – then plunder) God is the spirit (John 4) we ought to worship Him in spirit
The Mind of Christ: Heaven, not Earth
Jesus’ mind was set on things above not beyond (Col.3:2) Jesus’ expectations cannot be done unless one is not moved with eternity
Love those who don’t deserve love and do not expect anything in return; lay up treasures in heaven; rejoice in persecutions; fool is he who doesn’t think of tomorrow; Lazarus story; story about talents; preaching the gospel; dying and not denying Christ; serve and give; purpose the coming and the departure of Christ
The word “gehenna” occurs 11 times out of 12 by Jesus who is the essence of infinite love Moses had the mind of Christ he looked beyond the grave yard (Heb.11:26)
