THE REST OF GRACE
Grace is not license to sin; its power to live life pleasing to God
Heb.4:16
We come boldly because we come to the throne of grace not judgment
Obtain mercy for the past
Mercy takes away what you deserved
Find grace for the present and future
Find grace to help in the time of need
Grace gives you what you didn’t deserve
Grace helps those who need help; those who work; you don’t need help if you are not doing anything
Qualification for grace: problems
Mt.11:27-29
Come to Me all who are labor and are heavy laden
I will give you rest – of course He wasn’t speaking of physical sleeping
Those who labor for their salvation are tired
Heb.4:10
Entered His rest – trusts in complete work of the cross
Has ceased from his works as God did from His
God is at rest
To enter God’s rest is to cease working for salvation
Eph.2:8-9
We are saved by grace not of ourselves
Not of works but gift
Salvation is the gift of God not a salary
Gal.5:19, 22
Work of flesh verses fruit of Spirit
Sin is work while righteousness is relationship
Rom.6:23
Wages of sin is death
Eternal life is gift not work
Sin works you but righteousness rewards you
Surrender –
drop your weapons
David had to drop the armor How many battles have you lost because of those weapons The biggest threat to your surrender is your strength lift up your hands
I have nothing on me – I cannot fight – I quit trying rely on the mercy of the king
Trust, beg and rely on the mercy of the king
