The Crown of Thorns

Your spiritual condition is determined by your reaction to the message of the cross (1Cor.1:18)

Message of the cross is foolishness to those who perish

Message of the cross is the power of God to those who are being saved

Peter’s attitude toward the cross revealed his shallowness (Mt.16)

Two things will work in your life: the power and the principle of the cross

There is no crown without a cross (Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, David)

Cross needs to be behind us as well as in front of us

The pillar of cloud went before and after them

Cross in your past means, cross triumphs over your past and your past is dead

Cross will do no good to you if don’t gaze upon it (Num.21)

Remember blood not pharaoh

Remember Me not your sin

Jonah is the only prophet Jesus related Himself with (Mt.12:39-42)

Jonah 2:5 “…weeds were wrapped around my head…”

A crown of thorns insulted Jesus (Mt.27:29, 30)

A crown of gold would exalt a person but a crown of thorns would insult a person

A crown of gold – prince; a crown of thorns – victim

A crown represents our mind

What we feel and do comes from what we think

You are what your head is filled with (Prov.23:7)

You think you are a victim, you feel like a victim, you become a victim, and you act like a victim

Sin starts with your mind so is your transformation (Rom.12:2)

Bad thinking insults you because you are that what you think and you will act what you think

A crown of thorns injured Jesus

Thorn is as sharp as pin and as strong as a bone

The fall of man produced thorns (Gen.3:18)

A crown of thorns wasn’t necessary for salvation from sin

A crown consisted of many thorns: anxiety, depression, condemnation, guilt, pessimism, and lust

Trade a crown of thorns for crown of life (Jam.1:12)
