0211 Clean Hands but Dirty Hearts

CLEAN HANDS BUT DIRTY HEARTS

Psalm 24:4 “He who has clean hands and a pure heart…”

Hands speak of outward life while heart speaks of inward life (the fig tree)

People of clean hands and of dirty hearts

Pharisees had the cleanest hands but the dirties hearts

We look for clean hands but God looks for pure hearts (Samuel)

If you are not more righteous then them you will not enter into the kingdom

Samson didn’t get his hands dirty with Delilah but when his heart got polluted, he lost (Judges 16:15)

Solomon’s woman turned his heart not his hands from the Lord

Not multiply horses; not multiply wives; not multiply gold; book shall not depart

Rules were meant to guard the heart not just keep hands clean

Line was meant to keep people from death

Heart is ourselves; it’s the soil from which everything (spiritual and social) grows

Proverbs 4:20-23 “…Guard your heart with all diligence…”

The protective power of the word of God (Proverbs 6:24; 7:5)

Thank the Lord for fences that keep us away from dogs

God puts up the fence but he can’t make you not climb over it

Every lion and snake surrounded by a fence – is a good idea

Life with God is a prison with a fence – lie of the devil

Life in religion is a life of prison, behind the fence

Are you in the fence or the sin is in the fence?

Life in the garden is not a prison life but it does have fences (Genesis 2:8-17)

The word of God puts a fence over dangerous zones to protect us

Deceiver lied by saying that the fence is keeping good things from them

The purpose of the fence is not restriction but safety

Eve climbed over the fence of God’s word & her conscience

Humanity could never climb back to the Garden from that fence

Relationship with God; marriage; family; work is effected by that fence

Life behind the fence is life of being dominated instead of dominion
