A date is simply “setting a date” – setting a time and place for recreation and fellowship.

Dating – the WORLD way:

» Wrong Dating is made of wrong motive, time, & person.

Wrong Motives for dating:

For fun & happiness

Because of fear, impatience, & loneliness

Wrong Time for dating:

A flower plucked before it blossoms is not a good thing

You don’t need to go shopping if you don’t have money

Dating Wrong Person:

Missionary dating is popular, but ineffective

Don’t date “animals” (Genesis 2:18, 20)

» Prepares you for divorce

» Isolates you from important relationships (God, family & friends)

» Creates division in ministry

» Creates intimacy without commitment

» Distracts you from properly preparing for your future

» Romance driven instead of friendship

MYTH: God has a right person for me (Genesis 2:22)

Your chances of finding that right person is 1 in 6 billion

If relationship will suffer problems you will have an excuse to get a divorce

MYTH: God chooses the person He wants me to marry

God presents person to you but the choice is up to you to marry them

God would break your free will

If God doesn’t chose your eternal life for you what makes you think He would chose your mate?

Dating – GOD’S way:

» Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.

» Don’t start with single dates, but with group dates. Then you can move on to double dates, and only then should you start going on single dates.

» Dating is to build friendship, not romance.

» Submit your relationship to authorities. (Judges 14:1-20)

» Don’t get involved physically because you could be dating someone’s future wife.
