LOVE
The deepest need of every human being is to be loved. (Proverbs 19:22)
» Many teenagers do not feel loved
» Many teenagers do not feel loveable
» Many teenagers do not understand what love is
We can’t function properly without love.
You will never rise higher than your level of love toward others.
Levels of “love”:
» Eros – physical (attraction)
» Phileo – soulish (friendship)
» Agape – spiritual (unselfish giving of one to the highest good of another)
Relationships built on “Eros” and “Phileo” don’t last
Relationships that are built on need instead of love will not flourish.
What is love?
» Love is not sex; sex is the expression, but not creator of love.
» Love is not selfish; if it doesn’t cost you anything it's not love.
» Love is not a feeling; feelings are the fruit of love, but not love itself.
» Love is value, respect, worth, importance, honor, admiration, reverence, high esteem, devotion, & adoration (1Cor. 13)
Five languages of love:
» Quality Time
» Words of Affirmation
» Acts of Service
» Gifts
» Physical Touch
