THE PRIVATE LIFE OF A LEADER
The morning prayer story
Building Build on Rock (Mt.7:25-27) Building has two parts: visible and invisible; foundation and stores Building fell not because it didn’t have walls but no foundation Private life build on Rock or Sand Public success build on private failure will not stand
Tree Rooted in Ground (Jer.17:5-8) Are you bush leader or tree leader? Bush is in wilderness, tree is in rivers Bush doesn’t need roots, tree’s strength is its root Bush needs rain, tree needs river (upward – seasonal, inward – constant) Bush is easily destroyed, tree is unbreakable Bush is small, tree is ever – increasing (bush no fruit, tree is fruit) Bush is fearful of sun, tree fears nothing (it fears God) Don’t allow your branches to expend without your roots deepening You can’t go deeper without going lower
Building Build of Perishable Material (1 Cor.3:9-15) Ministry is building Material is gold, silver, and precious stones – underground, expensive, small Material is hay, straw, and wood – off ground, cheap, big What will get burned? What is build on God God rewards publicly what is done privately (Mt.6:6) First commandment is to love God (Mt.22:37)
Jesus prayed privately, and preached publicly A minute after 10pm is minute you’re taking away from Jesus next morning
