The Twin Brothers
Gen.25:27-34; 1 Chr.4:9
Blessing is not grapes in refrigerator, it’s vineyard in the backyard God has a blessing available for you (document on the wall)
Bowl or Blessing (blessing from brother) Jacob gave up a soup for blessing, Esau gave up blessing for soup Having God’s promise will require you to give up some things to possess your blessing Blessing comes when cravings are under control (Adam and Jesus) Flesh glorified, Jesus crucified!!! Blessing comes when tomorrow is more important than today (Prodigal son and Amnon and Moses & Eagle Car)
Parents and Blessing (blessing from father) Jacob honored his parents, to the decree of even doing wrong Jacob brought good meal, Esau brought great pain (400 miles for a girl) Jesus obeyed His parents, and honored His mother even on the cross Honor verses obedience. Honor is attitude, obedience is actions 5th Commandment: connection between honoring God and honoring parents. They resemble Creator Those who mock parents will die. Those who curse will have ravens pluck their eyes and eagles eat it
Covenant and Blessing (blessing from the Father) Blessing is covenant with God. Lot (angels), Ishmael (mom), or Esau didn’t have it Relationship with God is a sign that you’re blessed Jacob had brothers blessing, fathers blessing, but not God’s Blessing brings identity: Esau father of Edom (red), Jacob father of Israel (wrestled) Prodigal son wasn’t asking father for things, but for blessing Man sitting at the gate beautiful was asking for fruit, but God gave him a blessing Jabez was asking for blessing he had things
