Jonathan’s Victory Over Philistines
1 Samuel 14:1-23
Enemy 3,000 chariots, 6,000 horseman, people as sand on seashore
Dependent upon the enemy…Samuel the prophet
Jonathan is disqualified from being a king
Many soldiers fled from the army those remaining are dreadful – 600…3,000 with saul, 2,000 with jonathan.
No one has a sword
Leave first
First step is always leaving
Jesus left heaven, man leave family, Israel leave Egypt, Lot leaving Sodom, disciples leave world
Leave alone
It’s pointless to convince others to follow you, they will when God begins to approve of you
Leave alone, they will join if you get victory, if you share without victory you will be mocked
Go towards that from which others are running from
Faith is not just leaving Saul, it’s facing what others are running from
The four lepers story: your enemy is defeated
God didn’t sent him, prophet didn’t sent him, king-father didn’t sent him, common sense didn’t sent him, faith did
Signs will follow faith
Go when you’re not sure
Three Hebrew boys were not sure if God would deliver
If God gets involved He will be on our side
It’s God or we die. Victory is miracle. Miracle for those who not just need them but will die without them
If things get harder victory is guaranteed
Small victories are won on your knees and hands
Enemy trembled, earth shook, melting away, confusing, killing themselves
It glorifies His name, it revives people, defeats enemy, turns people away from enemy is it God’s will?
