Good Morning
Can anyone quote this years theme verse for me?
James 1:22 NIV84
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
2 things about this verse. 1 – listen to the Word. 2 – Do what the Word says.
We have to know what it says so we can do what it says.
Someone read Ephesians 4:25
Ephesians 4:25 NKJV
25 Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another.
What is a lie? A Something that isn’t true.
Proverbs 6:16-19 talks about 6 things that God hates. One of them is lying.
God hates lying.
Why is lying such a big deal?
A: Jesus said He was the way the truth and the life. Jesus is truth. We are supposed to be like Jesus. When we lie we are the opposite.
John 8:44 ESV
44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
When we lie, we are doing something that Satan does. We are being like him.
Does that sound like a good thing? A
What we are going to do is demonstrate what happens when we lie.
Yarn

See what a mess lying creates?
A: All this mess wouldn’t happen if we told the truth.
Why do we lie?
A: Don’t want to get in trouble, think it will be easier.
God hates lying.
Do you have anything you hate?
A:
Ephesians 4:25
Ephesians 4:25 NKJV
25 Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another.
As Christians, we are called a body. So when we lie to each other it’s like lying to yourself.
Proverbs 12:22 NKJV
22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, But those who deal truthfully are His delight.
We want to be a delight to God. To do that, we must tell the truth.
Here’s what I need you all to do for me. Ready? A.
Tell the truth!
Say it with me: I will (I will) tell the truth (tell the truth) even when (even when) it’s hard to do (it’s hard to do).
