FEED YOURSELF, NOT THE BIRD
Matthew 13:18-23
When you feed yourself, you starve the devil, you weary the devil, you make him tired Birds of the air. Prince of the air Don’t give what God gave you to the enemy but not being in the word of God Kill the bird, don’t feed it When you deprive (remove, deny, rob) yourself from nourishment, you empower the enemy No constistancy – little earth….no root in himself….in hard times quit…. Don’t let your situation mislead you Don’t let your situation dictate the direction of your prayer In every sitatution give God’s word a priority Distractions Technology – busyness of life Good soil produced a good fruit 100 fold – In the beginning was the WORD….God’s presence is foundation…faith increases. Filled with God 60 fold – victory over Satan. Jesus clanged to sword in wilderness as David’s friend. 30 fold – success in life. Bible defines success and helps us to achieve it.
God’s word is God’s gift to humanity. It reveals the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. We have to read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. Bible is light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you on. It’s the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s charter. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide our feet. We should read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully.
