Captain of Salvation Hebrews 4:8-10 Jesus SAVES (crossing) 1. You can't enter with Moses, only with Joshua. Joshua was under Moses It was not by boat, swimming, bridge but miracle You can be saved without tears but not without Holy Spirit 2. You cross Jordan to reach Promise Land, you go through Cross of Calvary Jesus SANCTIFIES (cutting) Umbilical cord supplies nourishment to baby, but now it's cut...anything that connects you with your past, word of God cuts it. Salvation is getting out of Egypt, Sanctification is getting Egypt out of you! 1. Circumcision after entering the land, not before it 2. Joshua did it, not people. Jesus saves & sanctifies Jesus is involved in your sanctification as much as He was in your salvation 3. Knife was the only tool used to bring it When you don't read it you should feel hungry not guilty 4. Circumcision took place in their private part (hair, nails) Character, not professional actor Jesus SUBDUES (conquering) Knife in kitchen, sword in field. Knife to deal with you. Sword to deal with enemy Book Joshua, not book of Israel, it's not about devil but about Jesus They did not get what they were promised, but what they were willing to conquer Only those who were circumcised went to fight with Joshua Most of book of Joshua was war not party. Gates will not prevail. Fingers to battle Enemy occupies your land. You can't enter and plunder unless you bind Enemy will not leave unless he is forced out - we all need be delivered before can plunder goods - we all need to be victorious in our mind & in prayer If they continue to live, its okay, 1000 per month not a big deal When Holy Spirit talks, changes are beginning Gods Word is an instrument of peace for Holy Spirit to use The book that reads us even as we read it You are in it, I am in it, but most important God is in it It is uncommon sort of book requires uncommon sort of read Bible is given to us to make us at home in the world of God Each portion is sent to you, one may speak today, another tomorrow, but God sent all of them into my life What bring what you think you need to hear, this is about what God has to say to you You can read Bible, you can think, but unless you live in the Word as well you miss the point God and His word are one. Jesus is the living word. Splash around in the word, take time to know what God is saying because our life depends on knowing it, here you meet Him face to face The Bible is given to us in the first place, simply to invite us to make ourselves at home in the world of God Read it – your life depends on knowing it. It has purifying power, converting power; it is a guide for your feet, to keep you from error and sin. Its proftable. It’s your spiritual weapon – food for your soul, enduring. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
