Two Traps of Giants:
1. Isolate yourself
First thing God said, “It’s not good to be alone.” Punishment of prison is isolation.
Two are better than one. One defeats a 1k, two 10k. Snowflakes alone can be crushed, when united stop traffic.
You are not meant to face him alone, you are not meant to win alone.
As with Thomas, doubt, and other things will come as a result of not prioritizing community.
Statistic:
- Elderly people, those without adequate social interaction were twice as likely to die prematurely.
- The increased mortality risk is comparable to that from smoking. And loneliness is about twice as dangerous as obesity.
- Social isolation impairs immune function and boosts inflammation, which can lead to arthritis, type II diabetes, and heart disease.
2. One battle determines outcome of war
Bad day is not bad life. Bad past = bad future.
What you are complaining to God on this side of eternity, might be the very same thing you will be thanking Him in eternity.
It’s too soon to complain and grumble, because God has a habit or using foolish things of our life to accomplish His plan.
Example: When arrow is pulled back it’s only so that it can be released forward with a force. Your setback is a set up!
If you lose a battle, don’t despair, it’s not over. Righteous falls and gets up. Robbers looked to thief. Adulterers looked to David. Those who denied Jesus looked to Peter. Prostitutes looked to sinful woman. Crooked businessman looked to Zacchaeus for hope. Demonized looked to Gadarene for hope. Murders looked to Moses for hope.
If not falling into water that drowns a man but by staying there. Repent for kingdom of God is near….Kingdom is not gone now!
How to slay your giants:
1. Walk away from toxic people and places.
Four types of people in your life….
Jesus removed them out of his world…you have do the same. Don’t wait for them to shut up or leave…Negativity, is worse than Ebola!
Influence is flu - it’s caught not taught!
Joseph ran from toxic places and people! Don’t try to witness to those you are tempted by!
2. Mend your relationships with authority.
Honor authority in your life…don’t accuse or mock authority.
You can’t walk in authority if you don’t walk under authority (Jesus walked under and walk over)
Ask permission before doing something instead of giving orders
Story: Man who forgave his mom who killed his dad!
3. Confront the source of your problem not just the symptoms of it.
Toxic people are not your enemy. Bad leadership is not your goliath. Your real enemy is satan.
Satan will have you fight symptoms of your problem, as long as you ignore the root of your problem.
Some fight people, others self, others God, but few our real enemy - Satan.
We are quick to take credit, blame God, and leave satan innocent.
Ignoring satan does not make him disappear - no protection for runners.
Story of the Inna’s flood. Story of Eders marriage. Story of business man. Story of my addiction. Story of Josephs garments & lying.
Some things that open the flood of darkness are generational curses, occult, stealing, spells, objects, dishonor, spoken curses by people in authority or yourself.
