Marriage is where I learn about God.

God is where I learn about marriage.

1. FAMILY IS THE FOUNDATION.

Apple does not fall far from the tree.

It’s not where you land, it’s where you fall from.

Max Jukes, the atheist, lived a godless life.

He married an ungodly girl, and from the union there were 310 who died as paupers, 150 were criminals, 7 were murderers, 100 were drunkards, and more than half of the women were prostitutes.

His 540 descendants cost the State one and a quarter million dollars.

Jonathan Edwards, great man of God.

He lived at the same time as Max Jukes, but he married a godly girl.

An investigation was made of 1,394 known descendants of Jonathan Edwards of which 13 became college presidents, 65 college professors, 3 United States senators, 30 judges, 100 lawyers, 60 physicians, 75 army and navy officers, 100 preachers and missionaries, 60 authors of prominence, one a vice-president of the United States, 80 became public officials in other capacities, 295 college graduates, among whom were governors of states and ministers to foreign countries.

Two great evils: absence of good family, distance with good family.

When you get new family.

Don’t avoid the biological one.

Serve, model, best sermon is your changed life.

Don’t demonize, and idolize your family!

Relationship with your spiritual family affects your relationship with God actually!

“Too many hypocrites” there is room for one more.

“Don’t be CEO.

Hatched, matched, dispatched.

2. LEAVE TO CLEAVE.

- It’s okay to stay with parents until you get married.

“My parents live with me” Example of 30 year old girl who was not married making fun me!

- If you get married, leave your in laws.

- Principle of pursuit - success follows work.

Marriage works if you do.

During dating work does not seem like work, work paved the way for great romance.

- daily contact with text and calling.

- regular signed cards.

- flowers and gifts.

- walks in the park, eating out in restaurant.

- planning fun things in the weekends.

- washing the car.

- taking a shower.

- trying to be in best shape.

- first to apologize, first to say thank you.

- compliments were always even exaggerations.

It’s like fireplace, if we don’t put wood, we should not complain for lack of fire.

It’s important to love your spouse the way they want to be loved.

3. BECOMING ONE.

Marriage is when a man and woman become as one.

The trouble starts when they try to decide which one.

It’s not win and lose but negotiation.

Example: spending vs saving.

Traveling vs cave man.

Goal vs caring.

4. JOINED BY GOD.

If marriage is permanent, all the problems will be temporary.

“Grew apart” “It was mistake” “I married wrong person” “We fight always”

Spiritual:

1. Jesus wants church to be family.

God called himself Father.

2. Jesus left heaven and was seeking you on earth.

You must become like Him, since He became like you.

4.

He never leaves you.

Choose to be with Him forever.

What are you pitching and building?

- Relationship with God becomes more important as days go by, some things are less important as days go by.
