MAKING DEALS WITH THE DEVIL
Joshua 9:3-4, 15
Compromise in marriage is life saver. Compromise in life is deadly.
Compromise - decor at home, budget, family visit, cleanness.
If 99% is good enough? 15 minutes of no service. 1.7 million pieces of first class mail would be lost each day. 35,000 newborn babies would be dropped by doctors or nurses each year. 200,000 people would get the wrong drug prescriptions each year. We would have unsafe drinking water three days a year. And two million people would die from food poisoning each year. That’s if 99% were good enough.
DON’T MAKE COVENANT WITH THAT WHICH GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO CONQUER.
1. When we marry those God called us to reach! (Flirt to convert. Missionary dating)
This is love. God is love but love is not God! (Chad story)
It worked for others (Andrey’s head)
Religion will not get between us. It’s not fair (Daisy story)
**Lust looks like love, water looks like alcohol.
2. When our issue becomes our identity!
Satan will not negotiate if he has a chance to win (Egypt)
Defeated enemies reply on dangerous weapon called deception (Trojan horse)
“Make love, not war” (Porn, and Smoking)
3. When problem becomes permanent!
Covenant with God has no place where to work if you cope (50 kids in group)
You can’t conquer what you refuse to confront (Trisha debt)
My relationship is permeant everything else is not (Andrey on drugs)
The stronger my relationship with God, the stronger my resolution and rebellion against what’s not God’s will. Passive is lukewarm.
Paul was exception, Jesus is example! Thorns or stripes.
Abraham decided to cope - God rebuked him!
