Dead men can’t be offended
Mark 8:34–38 (NKJV)
When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

Phil 2:13,

Philippians 2:13 YLT
for God it is who is working in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

We are dead in Christ

Romans 8:36 YLT
(according as it hath been written—‘For Thy sake we are put to death all the day long, we were reckoned as sheep of slaughter,’)
2 Corinthians 4:11 YLT
for always are we who are living delivered up to death because of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our dying flesh,
Galatians 2:20 YLT
with Christ I have been crucified, and live no more do I, and Christ doth live in me; and that which I now live in the flesh—in the faith I live of the Son of God, who did love me and did give himself for me;
Colossians 2:20 YLT
If, then, ye did die with the Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances?

He calls the crowd around Him to announce to the world and to all generations what it means to confess the Christ and take His name.

A secular and humanistic mind is motivated by selfishness; it needs security, values, success, and sets a goal on status.

The mind of Christ, however, takes up the Cross, loses its life, gains its soul, and glorifies God. Never again can a Christian be confused with a world-ling. They live by conflicting laws and on a different time schedule.

1. You Must deny yourself, to disown yourself. Winning is losing

2. Separate to separate from yourself from the person that you know.

3. The heart wants to be delivered from his messed up self.

4. Not only do you give away all the bad of your life but also all the good artificial things in your life You’ve built up. Spiritual crushed or spiritual bankrupt.

A. Christianity is like a tree as we grow upward thru the knowledge of Christ At the same time our roots grow downward into humbleness, humility and dying

1. We come to church because each week pride and proudness creeps in. Come the grinding wheel. Jer 18 1-7,

…and marred is the vessel that he is making, as clay in the hand of the potter, and he hath turned and he maketh it another vessel, as it was right in the eyes of the potter to make.

B. Jesus expects Self denial up to Persecution, rejection and all the way up to death for sharing and offering of the gospel, in return for the offer of forgiveness, joy, peace, and eternal life which is so precious, no personal suffering, no personal sacrifice, is enough to turn us back from Jesus.

2. Whoever lives only to serve his earthly physical life to preserve his life for ease and comfort and self indulgence will lose his spiritual eternal life but whoever is willing to give up his earthly physical life deny himself bearing the cross following in loyal obedience to Christ will save his eternal life.

So Pastor where do I start? Take the step to say yes, come sit in one of these chairs and what you’re telling God is yes I’m coming as I am if I am to be changed you have to change me. I give up Lord.
