What are the side Effects of Obedience?
Tale of two disobediences:
Saul Disobey’s God towards Amalekites.
The Healed one leper of ten.
This story of the Amalekites and Soul’s disobedience has impacted my life.
I always wanted to obey God and not do what I think is right.
That is a good lesson to learn from this story, but there is something much more to learn here.
Who are the Amalekites?
Amalek was the son of Eliphaz, the son of Esau.
Amalek represents one who despises God’s people.
The Amalekites were the first to attack Israel after Egypt for no reason.
After Israel get their first well by miracle they were attacked by them agian.
The second time they attacked Israel was in the 40th year of the wilderness disguised as King of Arad.
To this day because of Saul’s disobedience the descendants of Amalek still hate God’s people.
Haman was a descendant of Agog who was part of the Persian empire plotted to annihilate all jews.
Who are the Amalekites?
Amalek = “dweller in a valley”.
Amalekite = “people of lapping”.
What do the Amalekites represent?
In a valley.
In a time of hardship and trusting God.
After a miracle in your life something comes to kill you or the miracle.
Right before a promise fulfilled something comes to destroy you or the promise.
What do the Amalekites represent?
What tries to take away a miracle and keep you from a promise.
God gets angry at an enemy that robs His children.
Any time you see God angry towards people in the bible, it is in response to cry of a people being tormented.
How do you beat the Amalekite spirit in your life?
Obedience to Father
Not allowing any resentment toward God, or that you may know better than God does.
Obey what He is saying to do or not do in your life all the way.
The other story of obedience:
What are some things that stand out to you in this story?
This story has always impacted me to be grateful.
I don’t want to just come to Jesus for a need and then not come back to Him.
That is not the kind of relationship I want with Him.
The fact that nine did not come back, Jesus is trying to tell us something about us.
The disobedience in this story is harder to find because it appears they all did has He said.
One of them did more or maybe he did not listen all the way.
In the ten leper story there is a hint on how to go about our breakthrough.
Cleansed, Healed, and Well
Cleansed: katharizo
Cleansed means they saw their skin healed.
Outward evidence of some sort.
Healed: iaomai
One man saw that he was healed.
Healed means to cure, to heal, to be making whole.
Outward and inward evidence healing is happening.
Made Well: sozo
Made well means to be made whole.
Outward and inward evidence that you are whole.
Nine were cleansed and only one was made whole.
Nine started their healing process.
That one came back to Jesus face to face and with gratitude.
This story show us that we have stages of healing and what brings the fullness of that is our coming to Jesus with gratitude and faith.
Paying attention to what God has done is the first step.
The second is to return back to Jesus after you experience healing and thanking Him.
If you want to be whole, if you want the full promise of God, come back to Jesus.
Dont just do what He says, come back to Him, be with Him, thank Him.
What is obedience?
We have learning in these two stories alone what obedience is not:
I propose that Obedience is not sacrifice and offering.
Obedience is not thinking you know what love is more than God does.
Obedience is not slave like compliance.
Obedience is not following exact instructions.
As a young boy I made this subconscious vow to find out what obedience is even when people dont say it all the way.
From this place I need a way to find exact instructions on how to follow or comply.
I have used all my gifts to predict what people are really wanting or what they mean.
I have found it impossible to discover how to really obey.
Over a long period of time, this really made me bitter towards people.
Most people don’t mean what they say dont say what they mean.
Obedience is a posture of the heart that glorifies God and fulfills purpose with action.
True obedience is found in the heart.
What is obedience?
Obedience is that which glorifies God.
Effects of Obedience:
Obedience sets you free.
Obedience defeats the robbers of miracles and promises.
Obedience gets you to promises.
Obedience gets you cleansed.
Obedience heals you.
Obedience makes you whole.
All these evidences glorify God.
Obedience Glorifies Jesus.
Closing:
Your obedience to Jesus will make you whole and defeat the robber of miracles and promises.
Jesus has heard the cries of His people and wants to defeat the robber of miracles and promises.
Jesus has already starting your healing and wants the full healing to come about.
The key to all this is obedience from the heart and in the flesh.
Do you have something trying to take away a miracle?
Do you have something trying to keep you from a promise from God?
What did He ask you to do?
Are you obeying?
Are you going to His face and thanking Him for what He gave you?
Activation:

Tell each other one way God has healed you.
If your brave enough, tell them what He is asking you to do now?
