Galatians 5:7, Hindrances to Your Faith
Hindrances to Your Faith
Galatians 5:2-7: Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
[Galatians 4:13, Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first]. They received Jesus Christ by faith.
[Galatians 4:14: And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus]. They accepted the Word that Paul preached which is the Gospel message.
[Galatians 5:7: Ye did run well; who did hinder [to knock out] you that ye should not obey the truth?]. They see Paul as their enemy.
Three hindrances to their faith:
1) Hindrances of false teachers [Galatians 1:1-9]. Paul is called of God. Judaizers came in. We have plenty of false hope today. Salvation is grace by faith and not man-made rules.
2) Hindrances from other Christians. [Galatians 5:15: But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another]. We are to show love for one another. [1 Corinthians 3:1-4: And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? John 13:35: By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another]. Strife and envy are the marks of carnality. James 3:14: But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. James 3:17-18: But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
3) Hindrances of the works of the flesh. We battle the enemy every day. Galatians 5:19-21: Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Romans 7:15: For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not;but what I hate, that do I. Galatians 2:20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
[Galatians 5:16: This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh]. We let the Spirit guide and direct us.
Romans 8:6: For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Galatians 5:22-26. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Galatians 6:14-15: But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
