Kingdom Appropriation
Kingdom Appropriation
Ephesians 2:6–8 (NKJV)
6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
Saved- Sozo
To save or rescue from natural dangers or affliction
save from death
save/free from disease, ailments
thrive, prosper
Grace:
God’s unmerited favor in my life
beneficent disposition towards us
Grace=Free gift
WE play a part
Through OUR faith is how we receive the grace that Jesus afforded us on the cross
Many examples of Jesus pointing out that YOUR FAITH has made you well
People want to criticize the “word faith movement”
You’re commanding God to move
God isn’t the one who is stuck
24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
-Passed tense
-We attach ourselves through faith to the grace God gave us through Jesus
-Cultural appropriation -hot topic
Mathew 6- On earth as it is in heaven
Your will be done
This is a Kingdom Appropriation
What is faith?
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith Breakdown
25 Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.
Suffered many things from many physicians
What she may haver suffered might have been the prescription from the medical treatment
The Talmud included jewish laws and practices on how to deal with certain situations
Women with an issue of blood: had specific instructions on how to “cure” and individual
1. "Take of the gum of Alexandria the weight of a zuzee (a fractional silver coin); of alum the same; of crocus the same. Let them be bruised together, and given in wine to the woman that has an issue of blood.
2. If this does not benefit, take of Persian onions three logs (pints); boil them in wine, and give her to drink, and say, 'Arise from thy flux.'
3. Dig 7 ditches
She only got worse:
She spends all her money on all these cures and doctors
She puts all her hope in the medicine of man
And she only gets worse
This went on for 12 years
Getting her hopes up to be let down
Hope deferred makes the heart sick
But when she heard of Jesus
Faith Hears First
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
-First and foremost you have to hear
-The first law of receiving is you have to hear
-And you have to know
Hope:
Faith starts where hope ends
Hope hears good news
Hope hears theres something more than the situation i’m in
Hope initiates faith
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2. Faith Speaks Second
28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
She hears of Jesus and her faith is activated
22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
3. Faith Acts
17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
Works- deeds, or action
Faith without action:
Act as if
Don’t ignore wisdom/act as if
She had to get out of her house and put her faith into action
If I really believe that Jesus can heal me
I have to get to this Jesus
If you believe that your healed do your actions show it
Does your faith reflect it?
Unclean:
She wasn’t just leaving her house, she was taking a risk!
According to levitical law
Anything unclean must be cleansed, burned or ostracized
Leapers, Woman who had blood issues had to distance themselves to maintain purity for the whole area
Leapers had to announce to people around them
She was either going to be healed or she was going to be in trouble
4. Faith is violent
Dudes come up
28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. 30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”
31 But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”
32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. 33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
OBSERVATION EXAMPLE
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
18 Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him. 19 And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus.
Are you fighting
What are you fighting for?
The fight isn’t to get the healing cause you already have it
The fight is against doubt
Against the enemy trying to lie to you
The fight is guarding and protecting the word of God and the seed that’s been planted in your heart
A spirit of Faith
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
