On the following day, when the people who were standing on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except that one which His disciples had entered, and that Jesus had not entered the boat with His disciples, but His disciples had gone away alone—
however, other boats came from Tiberias, near the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks—
when the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, nor His disciples, they also got into boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
And when they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, “Rabbi, when did You come here?”
Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.
The disciples where curious how did Jesus get from Tiberius to Capperum and he wasn’t on the boat with his disciple neither was there another boat.
At the time Jesus was living at Capperum .
Jesus never answered there question. But he address there prime motivation.
They followed Jesus with the wrong motivation.
It shows that mere miracles can be corrosive to genuine faith.
That’s why sometimes we don’t get those warm and fuzzy feelings we once used to get.
Because eventually we will just chance that feeling and stop going after God.
In my early stages as a church goer. I would come to church and hear the song service and sense Gods presence.
The song service was enough then I would hear the preach of the word and would experience His presence.
Then it became that was enough so I started taking notes .
Then that wasn't enough . I took the notes home and mediated on them.
Then that wasn’t enough then I went beyond observation then now I ventured into application . How does that word apply to my life.
Then that wasn’t enough not I had to communicate what I applied in order for me to experience this deep sense of satisfaction.
They didn’t just eat. They ate and where filled.
They ate until they where fully satisfied.
They went to old country buffet. They went to fogo docho.
They where fully satisfied and there was some left over.
They were probably tearing that fish up licking there fingers and everything.
Bread of Life!
John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
A thief comes into your house for selfish reasons. Maybe some personal want or a need.
Unlike the thief Jesus didn’t didn’t come to steal but He came to give. Not just give but more abundantly.
More then what we could ask for more then what we deserve more then what we can manage.
John 5:26 “For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,”
1 John 5:20 “And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.”
Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”
When Jesus said to “do not labor for food.” He’s not condoning laziness he is saying expend your efforts to that which will no perish.
Jesus is address there materialistic notions.
The women at the well she was eager to know about this living water that she would never thrist. “ You mean I never have to draw water from this well, this hard exhausting work sign me up!”
Like these people are thinking like we never have to work again for food sign me up!
Don’t let your primary focus in life to be on the search for food.
Don’t let food be the reason of your exist is to eat.
Mk 2:27 “And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.”
Food was made for man not man for food.
Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
If Jesus would have given them a list of rules they wouldh’ve done them . So in anticipation they are waiting for the answer.
Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
Jesus contradicted all of there ideas. and He said just believe in Him whom The Father has sent!
Gods remedy for our souls is to trust Christ.
