Proverbs 29:18 KJV 1900
18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
The vision of Vulcan Assembly of God is: “To be a Going, Giving, and Growing Church.”
The writer of the proverb we read explains the importance of vision. Without a clear vision we will perish. A vision helps keep us focused on why God has us here and what He wants us to do. It gives us a goal of what we believe God wants us to do.
The first part of our vision is to go.
The second part of our vision is it give.
The third part of our vision is to grow.
John 15:4–5 NKJV
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
Jesus described Himself in many ways- the Way, the Truth, the Life, the Bread, the Light, the Door, and Good Shepherd, and now He says I am the Vine.
Using this as an image, flowing from the Vine are the branches. As long as the branch is connected to the Vine, the branches will grow in flourish.
If Jesus is the Vine and His people are the branches then we have hope that God will help us grow and become strong in Him.
Spiritual growth is something God wants from and for each of us. As we grow closer to Him, we will also grow closer to each other.
Why does God want us to grow in Him?
What are some things God gives us that help us grow in Him?
Can you share about how God has helped grow in Him?
Let’s pray God will help us grow closer to Him and to each other.
Is there anything our Grow Group can pray with you about this week?
