Sin is a great disease that has spread upon all of man
We have become unclean because of this sin and are being brought quickly to death
There is a disease in this world that reminds of our sin and was spreading around Israel and other nations
Its name is leprosy “Kor”

Leprosy and Sin

The Leper is utterly unlcean (Leviticus 13:44-46)
Leprosy is a spreading disease that will affect those around you
Leprosy is a corrupting disease that eats away at your flesh until you fall apart
Leprosy is an isolation disease that forces you to dwell alone
Leprosy is a defiling disease that seperates you from God
cleanliness is required to go into the temple of God
you are cut off from your only hope in this world
The leper has no hope in this world
It is a disease that cannot be cured by any doctor or medicine
It will never go away on its own like a flu or fever
Those who love you the most cannot even come close to comfort you as you slowly die and rot from the inside out
Sin is this disease spread upon all men that isolates, defiles, corrupts and spreads
James 4:4 enemies of God
Luke 6:45 cannot hide what is in us
Romans 3:10-23 the corrupting nature of sin

Leprosy and Christ

Only God can heal leprosy
Sometimes a leper would be miraculously healed and restored to Israel (lev 14:1-7)
The priest would go to where the leper was and pronounce him clean
All things must be left behind after cleansing (lev 14:8-9)
washing and shaving to remove the stain of the leprosy and the hold it had on his life
from head to toe all had to be removed and cleaned
Christ heals a leper just by speaking (Matthew 8:1-4)
Jesus touches him because he loves him and is not afraid of leprosy
Jesus speaks cleanness into his body and he is made completely whole
1 John 1:9 cleanse us from all unrighteousness
But God has something greater planned
God wants to make lepers into priests (Leviticus 14:10-20)
God commands for him to be anointed just like a priest would be in his dedication (Exodus 29:20)
Noone else besides priests and lepers receive this kind of dedication from God
The combination of the oil and the blood signify purity of service and forgiveness of sin respectively. Purity and forgiveness made the priests acceptable to God—“consecrated,” meaning “holy.”
The ear, thumb and toe show that he is dedicated all over, fully consecrated to the work of God
God has done this for you in Christ
you were a sinner diseased and rotten from sin
Christ has the power to heal and consecrate you for his service
1 Peter 2:1-10 now a people of God!
