Psalm 92:1 (NIV) — 1 It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High,
Psalm 115:1 (NIV) — 1 Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.
Everyone has a purpose and destiny in life
Some might not know what it is
Some might know what it is and not achieve it
Some might know what it is and they might achieve it in part
Some might know what it is and achieve it fully
But everyone has a purpose in this life
Matthew 13:3–8 (NLT) — 3 He told many stories in the form of parables, such as this one: “Listen!
A farmer went out to plant some seeds.
4 As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate them.
5 Other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlying rock.
The seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow.
6 But the plants soon wilted under the hot sun, and since they didn’t have deep roots, they died.
7 Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants.
8 Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted!
Proverbs 20:24 (NKJV) — 24 A man’s steps are of the Lord; How then can a man understand his own way?
After the COVID 19 we realise that things have changed in the way we do Church
What we have now is some will come to Church, some will be online and others will neither be online or in Church
So we now realise that quite a lot of people were church goes and not Christian
Others were Christians but not disciples
Selfishness has permeated our churches, after COVID 19
We've got to do the work of making disciples
We've got to inconvenience ourselves for the sake of the Gospel
He must increase while we decrease
We've got to move above the gospel of personal comfort and convenience
Where the most important aspect of being a Christian is peace and joy
There is no where in Scripture where we are promised an easy life, if Jesus was persecuted, then we will be persecuted
This is very wrong
If Jesus suffered, then we might have to suffer for the sake of the gospel
If Jesus sacrificed and and denied himself of so many things, then we might have to deny ourselves of so many things and pick up our cross and follow Jesus
Mark 10:29–31 (NIV) — 29 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel 30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life.
31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”
Matthew 16:24–26 (NLT) — 24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.
25 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it.
But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.
26 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
Is anything worth more than your soul?
Luke 9:23 (NLT) — 23 Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.
First is our relationship with God and secondly well done though good and faithful servant, I have finished my purpose on earth
The degree to which we love God depends on the level to which we are prepared to sacrifice our lives for Him
Love is sacrificial, unconditional and selfless
The Christianity of how much I can get out of God will not serve us very much
Willingly make sacrifices for God and even be willing to give up all if He asks us to
Mark 12:41-44 “Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury.
And many who were rich put in much.
Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans.
So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.””
And the only reason why I would inconvenience myself or sacrifice is if I have something that mattered to me more than the sacrifice and suffering that I would have to endure
There is always a kingdom assignment for everyone else
God might ask you to stay in a low paid job, or a job you don't like, because He has an assignment for you there
The goal of the football Team coach is not pleasing the team members, but winning the game
Keeping our congregants happy is not winning, winning the game is leading people to Christ and bringing those who are in Christ to a closer and deeper relationship with Him.
Proverbs 13:20 (New King James Version) He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.
[John 15:5 NKJV] 5 "I am the vine, you [are] the branches.
He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
