1. Those who do not believe in Christ will go to hell.

1. Those who do not believe in Christ will go to hell.
‌2. In this society, this view encourages hate crimes.
3. This leads some churches to soften this teaching.
Does the Bible teach this?
Acts 4:12 (ESV)
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Smorgasbord draws from many different belief systems to create a personalized religion.

Utilitarianism

Is Truth objective or subjective?
The new cultural definition of “tolerance” forces us to embrace all truth claims as equally valid or true.
Matthew 7:13–14 ESV
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
The first most offensive element of the gospel is that Jesus is the only way. The second most is sin.
Romans 3:23 ESV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Psalm 51:5 (CSB)
Indeed, I was guilty when I was born; I was sinful when my mother conceived me.
Ephesians 2:3 ESV
among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.
By explaining the problem of sin, it helps make sense why Jesus is the only way to be right with our creator.

OBJECTIONS

Objection 1: “But, what about good moral people?”
Objection 2: “But, I have not committed that many sins”
James 2:10 ESV
For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.
Objection 3: “All religions are basically the same”
Different religions have different views.
Christianity, Judaism & Islam - Heaven & Hell.
African Culture/Religions - The dead continue living and guide their family.
Buddhism - Reincarnation.
Hinduism - Reincarnation.

Buddhism - Reincarnation.
Hinduism - Reincarnation.
They all contradict each other in key ways.
Natural Revelation vs. Spiritual Revelation
Objection 4: “What about those who never heard the Gospel.”
God is Reasonable, Just, Fair
False Assumption
1. The unevangelized go to hell because they have never heard.
Revelation 20:12–15 (ESV)
And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
No one goes to hell for not believing in Jesus.
No one goes to hell for not believing in Jesus.
We go to hell because we break God’s law.
No one goes to hell for not believing in Jesus.
‌We go to hell because we break God’s law.
So we ruin our message by not giving the bad news along with the good news.
No one goes to hell for not believing in Jesus.
‌We go to hell because we break God’s law.‌
So we ruin our message by not giving the bad news along with the good news.
By giving both, people can see their need for a solution.

So why is Jesus the only way?

He is the only one who dealt with the problem of sin.
All religions can’t be true because they contradict in critical ways.
All religions are not good, some are barbaric.
Every person is guilty and society can’t solve that problem.
